Ed Asner

Say hi to Mary Tyler Moore for us.
RIP Lou Grant!

Asner was terrific. Great actor and philanthropist. The Lou Grant character was so iconic, he transitioned from a Comedy to a Drama (Mary Tyler Moore Show and Lou Grant). Asner hinted at his own death a few months ago when Gavin MacLeod passed. They really made some high quality shows back then...

So many who made great TV back in the day are gone or are way up there in age. As mentioned above, Betty White is still going strong and continues to be beloved by many, bless her.

I've always been disappointed that when there was a strike and Lou, a manager, had to fill in as a worker, he didn't mention the disaster of trying to fill in for Ted Baxter. He got drunk and passed out and someone else, maybe the director, had to take over. Mary found him passed out and I don't know why she didn't take over reading the news.

“Who could turn the world on with his scowl…?

“Who could take a ‘nothing’ day — and suddenly make us all laugh and howl…?”
