Question about KLAT/KAMA HD2

I meant Amor Celestial. Sorry!
Other than the legal ID, a station can use any name or call sign, real or invented, that they want.

A classic case was Clear Channel's use of "WFLA" as the name for three or four different talk stations in Florida; each IDed correctly once an hour but the rest of the time they all were "WFLA". Totally legal.

No different than a TV station branding as "ABC 7" even if "ABC" is not part of their call letters.

Well that was the legal ID, KLAT 1010 am and KAMA HD 2.

They're just not updating their liners... Same thing as what was going on in San Antonio with AM 1350 saying "107.5" on it a month or two after KXTN had moved to AM. Not sure if they've fixed it by now though.

At one time, KLAT 1010 was running "Amor Celestial." Univision was running it on the bulk of its AM's until it decided sports talk programming was a better bet. So, as AnyHuman said, it just hasn't updated its liners in a really long time. I suspect Univision knows virtually no one is listening and doesn't consider it a priority.

But isn’t that illegal? Not giving legal callsigns?

If another station's legal ID is played at the top of the hour, it might run afoul of the actual letter of the law, but broadcasters have been doing it for so long without penalty it would be impossible to enforce.

It's otherwise perfectly legal. Amor Celestial could even say it's on KRBE 104.1 if it wanted and not violate any FCC rules. Of course, it would likely be served a cease and desist by Cumulus and, if that didn't work, get sued. Such behavior, however, would be perfectly legal.

Also, my understanding is that HD Radio signals can give their legal ID's visually on the radio's display and not auditorily.
