Reboots

It’s a very happy birthday for TV legend Norman Lear, who gets to celebrate with a bonus present: The new take on Lear’s syndicated 1970s series “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman” has landed in script development at TBS.

As reported in February, “Schitt’s Creek” star Emily Hampshire is developing a fresh version of “Mary Hartman,” along with Jacob Tierney (“Letterkenny”). After being shopped by Sony Pictures TV to buyers this spring, the project has landed at TBS. The news comes as Lear, who was born in 1922, celebrates his 99th birthday.

“The kick of kicks as I turn 99 today is learning that TBS is developing ‘MHMH’ and will allow us to make a new version of it starring Emily Hampshire,” Lear said in a statement. “As someone who believes his 99 years on this planet is owed to the amount of laughter he enjoyed through the years, here’s to the next 99. Bless you all!”

Woah didn't think Norman Lear would do another show for Sony and TBS. In this case its a remake of "Mary Hartman, Mary, Hartman"

Roku to get Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist a show that was cancelled on NBC.

The Roku Channel is snatching up the recently canceled NBC comedy “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist” for a new holiday special, which will be first original feature-length film. The film will air for free on The Roku Channel in the U.S., as well as on Roku in Canada and the U.K. All 25 episodes of the series will be available to stream for free on The Roku Channel in the U.S. starting later this fall.

For NBCUniversal, this is the second recently canceled series that has been revived by a streaming rival following Netflix’s decision to bring back “Manifest” for a final season.

2 new reboots in the works. A game show Tic-Tac-Toe hosted by Tom Bergeron from dancing with the stars. Set at NBC Universal but no idea if it's NBC or syndicated.

The second reboot is American Gladiators that will be re-imaged as the Gladiators will be WWE personal.

Last time Tom Bergeron did a game like this was Hollywood squares from 1998-2004.
Nice to see Bergeron finding work after he kind of got the screws at DWTS when they ditched he and Erin Andrews for Tyra Banks as host (a move that proved to be very unpopular with viewers).

After watching him in the early-mid 90s on the FX show "Breakfast Time" and then the short-lived "After Breakfast" once that program moved over to Fox, I thought he had the right "look", demeanor and voice to go into TV news for one of the major networks, either as an anchor or doing features.

Fox News or Fox affiliates airing Breakfast Time from FX? I never knew Fox actually aired a morning show or was this in areas where the Fox affiliate didn't establish a local news staff yet?

I always thought Breakfast Time on FX ended as soon as Fox and Friends started on Fox News Channel.
