Several empty spots now on the AM band in greater Houston.
KGOL 1180 is now off. Once the sale to Rehan Siddiqi closes, a new transmitter site will have to be built. This will take some time depending on whether 1180 is diplexed with another station or a new site is built, perhaps involving a COL change. Guessing 1180 will be gone for quite some time.
KEYH 850 is still off, and Estrella Media has requested an extension of the silent STA. Anyone know what might be in store here, if anything? Sibling KJOJ 103.3 is also still off the air with no resolution in sight. Is it really worth the $$$ to Estrella to revive either station, or should they sell the licenses to a greater fool to accomplish anything…?
I notice that KJOZ 880 has been off for at least a few days. Something to do with the impending ownership change?
And somewhat outside the immediate Houston market, I haven’t heard Wharton’s KANI 1500 on the air in quite a while. Don’t see any silent STA for this, any ideas?
