The first new AM log of 2022!

1390 - KRRZ ND, Minot; fading in and out, and mostly quite weak, under KBBO Yakima and others with classic hits. Finally heard 'Kiss' by Prince and a very weak '1390 KRRZ...' in fade-out at 0224 PT 1/2/22. Quickly went to the iHeart webstream and found a match to the same song and ID. NEW #813, 1KW at 898 miles. Good for ND #9.

Conditions were very nice towards the east last night. 1570 was a graveyard-like jumble like I had not heard in a long time. Unfortunately, it was a soup of voices at the 2AM TOH, so nothing IDed. WCKY 1530 good with Overcomer Ministry (and not ESPN per iHeart website), under KFBK. 1360 KRKK Rock Springs WY w/ Billy Joel song // webstream. 1450 KGRZ Missoula good with local ads, Fox Sports, for a brief period. 1220 CJRB MB loud with all-night classical music.
Also...WHO else is running Red Eye on 570 OTHER than KVI??? I heard Red Eye on KVI and the same show about a 1/2 second behind, way under KVI. New change at WNAX or KNRS? Or someone else altogether?
At the same time, there was a nasty low heterodyne on 1450, someone off frequency around 1450.140. Who could the culprit be? Any west coast or intermountain DXers noting this?

Whoa, I just looked at KGAB 650 nighttime pattern, it is all the to NW. Not sure how that 500w signal made it all the way SE to DFW.
They must've forgot to shut off the day power. There was a Dxer in 2010 who managed to grab KGAB by skywave whilst in Missouri during the late daytime hours. (The culprit was apparently a space shuttle landing screwing with the ionosphere)

I think I had KNX last under WCSZ, but not enough to get a positive ID. WCSZ is a major pest on 1070.

DFW, Texas - Sangean ATS-909X

Another new station tonight:

550 KFYR Bismark, ND 1/1/2022 2235 playing oldies. Night Fever (BeeGees), I Saw Her Standing There (Beatles), and Play That Funky Music. Matched web stream. Fair with fading, but no KTSA.

A re-log on 750 CKJH Melfort, SK in strong in WSB null with classic rock, “the New Beach Radio” ID and SK weather (high of -24). Also heard a sports call in show believed to be KOAL (UT), also a re-log.
Great catches. I heard oldies on 550 a few days ago but was too weak to hear anything through KTSA, KTRS, and the Mexican. Now that I know KFYR is possible, I will check their stream next time.

I checked 750 about 3 hours after you were listening and nulling WSB, all I could pull out was the Cuban (and KTRH slop).

DFW, Texas

Help with UnID:

I have been hearing a fairly strong station on 1380 kHz aimed N/S from DFW with Spanish music (seems to be religious) song after song with few announcements. Right now it has what sounds like a sermon. No luck with any TOH ID that I can identify. The broadcast does not match the streams of those stations listed as Spanish/Christian on 1380. It is not Relevant Radio or Radio Aleluya. My first thought was KRCM from the Houston area, but I've heard that one before and it usually has IDs in English and the stream does not match. Also no matches to XECO or XETP streams. It is a regular on 1380 at night and the strongest station on the channel. Any ideas?

Solved…. It is KRCM after all, got a TOH ID. Stream is not accurate.

The link in mwlist goes to Radio Aleluya. KRCM is SS religion but not //R Aleluya when I've checked. Before I left town for the holidays, I sat on 1380 for 45 minutes one evening listening to nonstop SS religious songs w/no announcements. Never confirmed, but assumed KRCM running day power. On night power, I can barely catch them at my location.

Radio Aleluya has a wesite with several different streams.. some frequencies are mentioned, when i last looked.. and the one youre listening to might nto be listed, but it'll match one of the streams there

Happened to scroll across 790 and was surprised to hear WAXY South Miami (sports) with a promo stating their call sign. 5 kw directional east over the Atlantic with a minor lobe westward. They were there for about 30 seconds before KBME Houston started covering them.
Someone mentioned in another thread that WAXY was transmitting 25,000 watts on an STA to offset Cuban interference.

I am listening to them now (transmitter is 35 miles from here, 22kw daytime). They are not running Radio Aleluya, despite Radio Locator/MWList. It's Spanish Christian light pop-sounding music with ID's as "Jesus Radio" (not Radio Jesus) in Spanish.

This may have been going for a while, see this post from 2016 https://www.radiodiscussions.com/threads/aleluya-leases-krcm-out.694841/

Sunset skip right now in the southwest suburbs of Chicago:

730 CKAC Montreal (4:20 p.m. CT), with WGN nulled and the ICF-2010 on narrow bandwidth aided by a AM-200 loop. Easily audible and matched to station's stream. Not new, but not often, either.

New York 660, 710, 770, 880 (660 the hardest, needed narrow mode for that) all also in, along with Toronto 740 and 860, WHAS, CHML 900, KDKA, WBZ (over WNVR), WHO, KYW, WTAM, KFAB barely audible under WXES (ex-WMBI), KMOX, and WRVA. As far as I got going up the dial.

Best of all: New 910 WSUI Iowa City (4:31 p.m. CT) with NPR and local news on 5 kW day power. Armchair copy. How had I missed this one?

A nice quickie skip session!

WCKY has carried brokered religious programming for decades. I don't believe that Bro. Stair is simulcast on the web/iHeart app.

DFW, Texas -- Sangean ATS-909X

Did a bit of GY DX last night:

1230 KHAS NE Hastings 1/3/2022 2042 CST Oldies, Smoke from a Distant Fire, KHAS ID w/mention of 104.1 (525 miles)
1230 KDRN TX Del Rio 1/4/2022 0045 CST Rom/ballads in Spanish, fair with long fades // stream (335 miles)
1400 KUNO TX Corpus Christi 1/4/2022 0020 CST Mexican music (horns, upbeat) weak // stream (365 miles)
1450 KCTI TX Gonzales 1/3/2022 2200 CST NPR News, Texas Public Radio, fair with fading (244 miles)
1490 WHOC MS Philadelphia 1/3/2022 2100 CST TOH ID: "This is 1490 WHOC", poor but steady (462 miles)

ID new logging on 1320 kHz which is usually all KXYZ Houston BIN and local KTCK-1310 spill over:

1320 KWHN AR Ft. Smith 1/3/2022 2119 CST ID "NewsTalk 1320 KWHN The One You Depend On" Good in KXYZ null.

Also, noted WBZ-1030 with weather and ID at a good level at 0115 CST, then faded. Usually WBZ is hard to hear. Still trying for other NE powerhouses. I've logged WCBS (in KRVN null) and WFAN (once when KSKY was off), but yet to hear WABC. I have local KAAM on 770, but can get a slight null to the N which yields XEACH/XEFRTM, and once KKOB.

Nice indeed!

I can usually get WSUI (or at least "traces" of it) daytime at my location on a good car radio, or on my GE Superadio-2. I've also heard it at night from time to time on other radios, but it's fairly rare.

I also guess it's not just me who has trouble with WFAN. I can usually snag it on the C Crane Skywave when I narrow the bandwidth, but it's definitely problematic. Last night I was checking out the Prince Edward Island SDR (Canadian Maritimes). The New York City 50kw blowtorches were all sounding like locals. Except WFAN, which was only fair at best.

I also have more problems with WFAN. It wasn't as bad during the WNBC days.
