I was able to get the KTAE stream to work tonight and they are carrying SportsMap network, so that must be it. KTAE is running national programming instead of their local shows over the holidays.

Thanks for the tip, crainbebo!

It was definitely KTAE. Shortly before 6 a.m. this morning I heard a Sportsnet Radio spot on 1260 followed by IDs for KTAE, KTXX (sister station), and K270CO (translator).

Why not close out the year with a new catch?

Okay I will! WLAW from Whitehall, Michigan on 1490. On top of the slop for about ten minutes shortly after 6am CST with local ads, country music and " FM 99.1, 97.5, and AM 1490". Distance: 123 miles, radio: C Crane skywave. I'm a little surprised I haven't heard this one sooner.

Wishing everyone a happy, safe, and prosperous New Year!

Last night, I pulled in a variety of distant stations here in central Texas, between Austin and Temple, TX.
  • 1030 WBZ, Boston, came in (faintly, but enough to hear a station ID)
  • 960 WREC, Birmingham. Was running Coast to Coast, along with 950-KPRC, Houston, at that time. Faint and didn't last long but enough to hear origination.
  • 920 KYFR in southwest Iowa. Faint Family Radio programming, but did hear the station ID.
  • 920 KLMR, in Lamar, CO, in the southeast part of the state. Coming in clearly, for a time, with CBS Sportsradio, which is listed as a program on its website.

WBZ-1030 is interesting because my location is some distance from its (optimistic) predicted signal contour.
At least one state away (Louisiana)

I’m hearing them too. Since they were strong on the RGV SDR during the daytime, my guess is it’s a new station in Reynosa testing. Still need to hear an announcement to be sure. I wonder if anyone outside Texas is hearing them.
I passed on this post to Tim Hall aka the cliff claven of mexican AM radio.. he had it on the Brownsville SDR about 9am this morning. Someone in harlingen has it on a CC Skywave at noon. It's 1670 reynosa.

I've been getting this one, too, in central Texas, just north of Austin/ Georgetown.
1670 comes in clearly.
Was playing standards, like Nat King Cole. Tuned in later, then heard some 80s pop.
Tuned into at TOH but never heard any ID.

@Dondd WBZ is occasionally heard here in DFW when conditions are favorable, mixing with KFAY (NW Arkansas). WERC (Birmingham) is the dominant 960 station most nights. 920 is owned by KARN (Sports) from Little Rock. Nulling KARN gets KYFR (IA) and KYST (TX Houston area in Spanish). I haven't heard KLMR, but will try now that I know it gets into Austin area.

WBZ comes in well here in Houston sometimes. I checked after midnight last night and they were almost equal to XEQR with no sign of KFAY.

KARN is strong here in the KYST null (KYST seems weaker than they should be here). Note, KARN also runs some CBS Sports programs.

That 920 I'm hearing may be Little Rock, as those maps show both Lamar, CO, and Little Rock putting a signal over central TX.
Will try TOH again. So far, too weak to hear any ID, except that one time I caught KARN.

DFW, Texas - Sangean ATS-909X

1/1/2022 Parked on 650 khz in WSM null and picked up 2 new stations and a re-log.

2115 CST WNMT Nashwauk, MN with Hollywood 360 old timey radio show and ID at 2130 “Vikings football on AM 650 WNMT”. Fair and clear with long fades.

2125 CST CKOM Saskatoon, SK during WNMT fade with man and woman discussing olympic competitors. CKOM stream had same discussion although delayed.

Also in the mix was KGAB Orchard Valley, WY (re-log) with the Dave Ramsey show.

Of the 3 stations, WNMT was the most prominent.

DFW, Texas - Sangean ATS-909X

Another new station tonight:

550 KFYR Bismark, ND 1/1/2022 2235 playing oldies. Night Fever (BeeGees), I Saw Her Standing There (Beatles), and Play That Funky Music. Matched web stream. Fair with fading, but no KTSA.

A re-log on 750 CKJH Melfort, SK in strong in WSB null with classic rock, “the New Beach Radio” ID and SK weather (high of -24). Also heard a sports call in show believed to be KOAL (UT), also a re-log.

KNX-1070 making it to Central Indiana on the Edinburgh SDR, also another Central Indiana DXer heard it on a portable. Mixed with WCSZ-SC, no CHOK tonight. California news and LA traffic.

At 11:10 PM, I heard 580 WXRH Rockwood TN with ID of "93.3 The Ranch". Later there was 580 WIBW Topeka, KS with Handel on the Law. Also, 1680 WOKB Winter Garden, FL "Gospel 1680" is strong, instead of KRJO Monroe, LA which normally comes in well. Earlier at around 4:30 PM, there was 1580 WWTF Georgetown, KY "WTF 97.7" with rock music.
These were received in Picayune, Mississippi with Sparc SHD-TX2.

DFW, Texas

1070 is all hash from KRLD-1080 here, but I am hearing KFI-640 carrying Coast to Coast with Connie Willis, mixing with KTIB (Louisiana) and Cuba.

Oops, you're right of course. Actually, looking again, 730 XEHB is in Hidalgo del Parral, Chih, not Monterrey. I need to proofread before posting :))
Thatz Oh-kay. We all do that on occasion.

I am also hearing KNX 1070 on the Arctic SDR which is located a LONG WAYS from LA. Maybe this is a good night for the DXer’s in Chicago to pick up KNX if people in Indiana are receiving it on a portable unit and it’s making it across the Arctic to Norway!

Still no luck for me on the Arctic although I did hear KNX tonight on the Edinburgh, In SDR around 3:45AM CST. Maybe there's still hope of catching it in the Chicago area. Thanks for the heads up gr8oldies!
