Post your latest DX

Earlier this morning, I heard KCNR, Shasta / Redding, California playing Gordon Deal. Also on the channel was ESPN Yakima (KUTI) and probably KCKX Salem OR (Regional Mexican). KCNR was a new logging. Although I switched between radios to monitor the frequency, I heard the programming best during a fadeup on my Radio Shack 200629 and a crate loop. On 1550 it was a lively mix of Asian programming: KRPI Ferndale with South Asian prayer chants, KKOV with some Viet talk and KZDG San Francisco with lively South Asian movie music.

1290 is becoming the "frequency of interest" for me so far here on the beach....

I checked 1290 at around 10pm CST last night (2/1), and again WHKY was booming in. Checked back at around 5am this morning, and it was WJNO from West Palm Beach booming in.. Distance 508 miles...just slightly closer than WHKY. Both the day and night patterns for WJNO favor my current location (10kw day, 4.9kw night). No trace of WHKY...or for that matter, WIRL. I've also been expecting to hear WHIO, but so far, that hasn't happened,

At least I've got something to keep myself occupied.
WHIO is Radio Free Canada at night but in the south, you'll have to catch them on day pattern (just after sunrise or just before sunset). They are seldom on day pattern at night.

On Saturday night at 8:05 p.m. CT, I heard what I think might have been Su Presencia Radio from Bogotá, Colombia on 1520.

I was aiming E/W-ish to null of KOKC as best I could, and I was hearing a very weak signal in and out with Spanish-language talk (mostly female) and occasional music. I could only make out a few phrases, like "para poder," "escuchar," etc. At first I thought I was hearing WRSJ in Puerto Rico, but its stream did not match. My next thought was Radio Baraguá in Cuba, but I could not find a stream for it.

At 8:48 the signal faded up briefly with music that I later identified as "Solo Estar Ahí" by (funnily enough) Su Presencia. That's a Colombian Christian music group, which makes me wonder if I was hearing Su Presencia Radio in Bogotá. Are there other Spanish-language Christian stations on 1520 that could have been what I heard?

That's an interesting one. KYND over here in Houston is Esne Spanish religion, but they are daytime only (and would probably be pretty strong in SA). Radio Baraguá has a stream (down at bottom on right of their homepage), but are playing typical tropical music when I checked just now. Su Presencia Radio would be an amazing catch. Anyway, love a good mystery!

I've been hearing Fox Sports Radio on the Athens, GA SDR, fairly listenable tonight on 1290. I was hoping for a TOH ID but right at TOH, guess who popped in loud and clear with weather and ID? WHKY. They immediately faded and it was back to FSR. This is a very strange freq that I've never listened to until @cyberdad brought it up.

What's the best conditions/timing to snag WBZ around here in Wyoming? (Even though I am also in KTWO's nighttime null, it still tends to overpower anything else on the frequency, except for an occasional KBUF visit.

KBUF Was a pre sunset regular for me in Laramie

As for when n how to try for WBZ in WY? i have no idea

I would suggest you try on a night/nights when you notice that propagation to the east is very good.
That's a good suggestion. One way to do that is to check stations to the east and northeast that are easier catches, and when you hear them exceptionally well, look for the "hidden prizes" like WBZ and other eastern stations.

Thank you, I'll have to try that!

I call this my "canary in the coal mine" effect. For example, here where I am on the Gulf coast this month, if WBZ is in, that tells me NYC might also be in play. Most nights, 1030 here is Mexico, and the New York blowtorches are also absent.

That's kind of the way I do it. When I was in Puerto Rico about 11 or 12 years ago I checked each night to get an idea where the best DX
was coming from towards North America. Some nights it was the east coast and other nights more towards the midwest. Usually not
both in the same night.
