My favorite was B101 at a labcorp type place. No surprise that it was 101 at all, but “Pour Some Sugar On Me” was a hoot in a medical office.
And that's a fully produced ID so they pretty obviously knew that they were killing The Breeze...and that they were actually planning to simulcast Q102 instead of just flipping the format. Also FWIW: just heard them ID on 106.1 as "WIOQ HD and Simulcasting on WISX"
Hmmmm. Now that is intriguing.Makes me wonder if Audacy could make a go of Soft AC on 96.5 and package sell ads with B101.1. I mean, there's probably no reason for them to do that except that running Soft AC would likely be cheaper than Top 40?
Does Audacy have any Soft AC's anywhere?Hmmmm. Now that is intriguing.
Considering WBEB and WOGL will benefit the most to Breeze going away, why would Audacy create something that would just continue to fragment those audiences?Makes me wonder if Audacy could make a go of Soft AC on 96.5 and package sell ads with B101.1. The cluster there wouldn’t have the challenge they have with WBEB, WOGL. Kind of need to move the B firmly put of the 80s to make it work from that perspective. Looking at the Sound’s recently played, to roughly mimic that would be counterproductive, I think, here. But if you carved up the swim lanes a little more clearly, maybe. Better than what they get today? Interesting question.Yes, they do. Seattle.
Are they actually allowed to leave it as a simulcast? I remember when they did this with 104.5 and 106.1, it wasn't a real simulcast because of some far-fetched rule?Unless this // broadast is permanent (?)
Why would they permanently simulcast WIOQ on the exact same type of signal though? Seems redundant to me. Unless I misunderstood what you're saying.Unless this // broadast is permanent (?)
Good points.Considering WBEB and WOGL will benefit the most to Breeze going away, why would Audacy create something that would just continue to fragment those audiences?
In speaking to a lot of people today trying to get an idea on why this is happening, I'll share these two points...
1) Breeze was 15th 25-54 last month. That's why they're gone.
2) This move is all about hurting Beasley's cluster and could be bigger than just flipping 106.1. You can try to discern the meaning towards that as it can be construed in multiple ways.
Seattle...Does Audacy have any Soft AC's anywhere?
Yeah, this is not permanent. Why would they permanently simulcast WIOQ on the exact same type of signal though? Seems redundant to me. Unless I misunderstood what you're saying.
So it looks like a betting man would put his money on Country or some version of Rock.

Well, I can't really remember the last time 101.1 sounded like Soft AC. I mean, I guess I vaguely remember it when it was on in the nurse's office in my elementary school.Seattle...
Why would Audacy want to create a new Soft A/C brand, when they spent all the time and energy reshaping B101 away from what sounded like a Soft A/C?
