This afternoon I turned on 660 AM and heard the broadcast of today's Yankee preseason game. 101.9 FM was airing regular sports talk programming. How many people are interested in hearing an exhibition game on the radio? Will Audacy permanently program AM and FM differently?
Yes, since August 2019 WFAN has taken advantage of the "95% Total Line Reporting" rule to split the simulcast for up to 33.6 hours per 28-day survey period in order to air conflict games.
A conflict between regular season baseball and preseason football, combined with the relaxation of Nielsen’s Total Line Reporting policy, will result in the split of the AM and FM signals
If they are about to bump up against that limit in any period, game broadcasts would get farmed out to other Audacy stations.
For example, last spring a few Brooklyn Nets games appeared on (what was then) 94.7 New York's Country.
