I spent a night in Festus, MO. It smelled like it sounds. And all I could think about was Gunsmoke all night.
I can pick up KRUZ 103.3 down here in the San Diego area so that is some impressive signal coverage if you can pick it up there in the Monterey Bay Area. Wow!Monterey Bay Area.
Also 93.3 KZOZ i guess is DX tho it seems to always be there. 130ish miles.
Sometimes i'll pickup 103.3 KRUZ 200 miles or so.
On one of my trips up the coast via the 5 and 101, I had KRUZ from Camp Pendleton to Gilroy. Impressive indeed.I can pick up KRUZ 103.3 down here in the San Diego area so that is some impressive signal coverage if you can pick it up there in the Monterey Bay Area. Wow!
I lived in Bakersfield for a year in the mid 90's. I remember KRUZ was the strongest out-of-town FM, listenable ~80% of the time on my car radio. That's 80 miles with the coastal mountain range in between.KRUZ really gets out if you have any kind of a water path.
Yeah, KRUZ is a pretty amazing station that covers a lot of land (and water). I bet you could even pick it up along the northern Baja California coast in Mexico under the right conditions.I lived in Bakersfield for a year in the mid 90's. As a comparison, Fresno was 100 miles away across completely flat ground and none of the Fresno stations came in as well as KRUZ. Mt Wilson, where a lot of LA stations are, was 100 miles away and I rarely got anything from LA without tropo conditions.
And it is important to note that the portion of LA County in the northeastern corner including Lancaster and Palmdale are part of the LA radio market.Yeah, KRUZ is a pretty amazing station that covers a lot of land (and water). As far as the Mt. Wilson LA stations are concerned, they really get out well to the south of Mt. Wilson (where the majority of the population is), but the coverage north of Mt. Wilson definitely leaves a lot to be desired. Pretty much once you cross the Grapevine on I-5, the LA FM stations are gone, even the powerful ones like KRTH. But, driving north, you can still pick up KNX 1070 and KFI 640 for quite a ways on I-5 (I bet they are easy catches in Bakersfield during the day).
You're right about that. I remember there's a spot on the Grapevine where the LA stations fade out almost completely and you can start getting every station in the Central Valley (at least it seemed so!)As far as the Mt. You say that, but people often forget our mini market here.. lolAnd it is important to note that the portion of LA County in the northeastern corner including Lancaster and Palmdale are part of the LA radio market.

Sorry about that. I was in Cheyenne, WY (my home city) when I recieved today's E-skip, and I used the original radio on a 2015 Dodge Ram, as well as my R-108 (using headphones in place of a wire antenna). I'll post some RDS screenshots from my truck soon!Moderator note: Those who post DX on any band might take a moment to add their location to their profile so that we know where you are DXing from.
