Post your latest DX

Monterey Bay Area.

Also 93.3 KZOZ i guess is DX tho it seems to always be there. 130ish miles.

Sometimes i'll pickup 103.3 KRUZ 200 miles or so.
I can pick up KRUZ 103.3 down here in the San Diego area so that is some impressive signal coverage if you can pick it up there in the Monterey Bay Area. Wow!

KRUZ really gets out if you have any kind of a water path.
I lived in Bakersfield for a year in the mid 90's. I remember KRUZ was the strongest out-of-town FM, listenable ~80% of the time on my car radio. That's 80 miles with the coastal mountain range in between.

As a comparison, Fresno was 100 miles away across completely flat ground and none of the Fresno stations came in as well as KRUZ. Mt Wilson, where a lot of LA stations are, was 100 miles away and I rarely got anything from LA without tropo conditions.

Yeah, KRUZ is a pretty amazing station that covers a lot of land (and water). I bet you could even pick it up along the northern Baja California coast in Mexico under the right conditions.

As far as the Mt. Wilson LA stations are concerned, they really get out well to the south of Mt. Wilson (where the majority of the population is), but the coverage north of Mt. Wilson definitely leaves a lot to be desired. Pretty much once you cross the Grapevine on I-5, the LA FM stations are gone, even the powerful ones like KRTH. But, driving north, you can still pick up KNX 1070 and KFI 640 for quite a ways on I-5 (I bet they are easy catches in Bakersfield during the day).

And it is important to note that the portion of LA County in the northeastern corner including Lancaster and Palmdale are part of the LA radio market.

You're right about that. I remember there's a spot on the Grapevine where the LA stations fade out almost completely and you can start getting every station in the Central Valley (at least it seemed so!)

KNX and KFI are strong in Bakersfield during the day. KFI was one of my presets, listened to John and Ken every afternoon driving home from work. From the other way, KNBR was close to local-strength in the daytime.

You say that, but people often forget our mini market here.. lol
KGBB, KMIX, and KQAV are a few.

These last few days of ES seem a bit lackluster, but considering the pattern the southwest has been getting, honestly I'll take what I can get. June 6 was a bit of a wake up call (quite literally) in the morning. Signals were strong at times throughout the hour, but not quite reaching TOB, at least from here. Few even broke through local dial traffic, which is a plus for any opening, in my opinion.

Now yesterday was another odd opening to Chihuahua. As usual, starts off with XHAHC and it's rapidly sending RDS data as an indicator, and the rest of the Chihuahuan normals came through. Patch started to drift a bit eastward into southern TX, but for the most part stayed relatively within the Chihuahua region. Chihuahuan paths are kinda intriguing because based off path distance alone, the patch for these catches normally have to be around 111 MHz or higher. Perhaps it would be wiser to monitor higher radio bands whenever a path that close forms.

Oh, and I guess KTWJ earlier today. This afternoon's patch sadly was too north for me, so only Mr. KW4RZ was only able to take advantage.

I have yet to still attain higher ES this year (two goals: make a 2 meter FM contact via ES, and get a NOAA Weather Radio station via ES.), so with this new antenna setup, will definitely fun to see what I can find here, despite the local dial traffic.

Either way, what is DX without a challenge?

Many TX and Coahuila stations into Edinburgh IN today...including KAYK 88.5 Victoria, KQBT 93.7 Houston, XHWQ 103.1 Monclova, KNEL 95.3 Brady (6kw), KQBZ 96.9 Brownwood, KMCO 101.3 Wilburton OK, 97.3/98.5 in San Antonio, etc. fun Es opening!

I'm having a massive Sparodic Es opening to Eastern Michigan, with the MUF as high as 106.9!
Although it's not really taking out the locals, I ended up noticing because my semi-locals gave way. On the middle frequencies, like 94.9, the RDS also powered through nicely.

Yes, N8UUP (Bill) in SE Michigan had WY as far west as Cody WY 92.1 (KCWB) earlier...enjoy!
Milford PA Global Tuners had Lawrence KS a half-hour ago, Dyersburg TN 90.7 (K-LOVE w/ RDS) around TOH, KJMK-93.9 Webb City MO, KWFC-89.1 Springfield MO, 93.1 KQID Alexandria LA, 95.3 WNLA Drew MS, lots of stuff and several hundred mile range.

Today was a little more interesting than yesterday. Primarily out to Oklahoma. Signals were pretty decent, good fades at the start, and a few HD stations broke through locals.

A little odd, but after an hour of initial skip, paths started getting shorter to NM and even WY and CO. Screenshot_20220612-195025_Chrome.jpg

Moderator note: Those who post DX on any band might take a moment to add their location to their profile so that we know where you are DXing from.

Sorry about that. I was in Cheyenne, WY (my home city) when I recieved today's E-skip, and I used the original radio on a 2015 Dodge Ram, as well as my R-108 (using headphones in place of a wire antenna). I'll post some RDS screenshots from my truck soon! :)

The Pacific Northwest got totally skunked today. Everybody else had DX activity. Maybe tomorrow.
Yesterday I missed an opening that would have probably been to NM/TX (Randy Miltier in southern OR had Ogallala NE and others on FM up to 100+ mhz).

Here's two RDS screenshots.
Again, I was in Cheyenne, WY, and this occurred 6/12/22 around 6pm MDT/7pm CDT.
The top one is from WCLQ Wausau (805 mi). "89Q" is their branding, and because this is a relog, I could identify it immediately.

The bottom one is from 102.7 WRVM Suring, MI (867 mi). Isn't it nice when the RDS is strong enough to show up on screen, and the station bothers to put up call letters on it?

Here's another screenshot during the 6/12/22 opening from Cheyenne.

We have 94.9 WKJZ Hillman, MI (1,083 mi). I would eventually match the playlist online, and I got their "Hits 94.9 branding" along with "Northeast Michigan" in a liner.
