PLATINOMAX brining Piolin back.

I’m no radio expert as many of you will say in a sarcasm way. (Yeah we can tell)

But PLATINOMAX is bringing Piolin back to Houston.

Not in the morning, according to their Facebook page he will be on air from 6pm to 10 pm. Maybe it was a typo maybe they meant 6 am to 10 am?

But either way they’re bringing him back on POWERFM. A station that has a whole different format.

Is Power a Platinomax station? The Platinomax website doesn’t include them in their station lineup, and the Power website doesn’t have any owner info.
 
Just got of the phone with a reliable source. Power 105.3fm has NOTHING to do with Platinomax. Power 105.3fm is Independently Owned and Operated by SDK Franco along with "La Calle 97.9" New Orleans, ESPN 92.5 and Power 105.3fm Houston. They have a business
partnership with GOW Media. Many times top ratings don’t automatically translate into top revenue. For a small fm Transalator I believe bringing Piolin is a monumental addition with strategic partnerships and new clients.
 
POWERFM was on the PLATINOMAX app, it is no longer on it. Also LA NUMERO UNO 102.5 changed names again, it is now LA MEJOR.

Piolín has not been an audience attraction for a decade now.

No, long ago I said that Quebradita, a form of Banda music, was a fad. And that was the case. "Regional Mexican" goes back to the corridos sung by the revolutionaries over 100 years ago. As long as the is a Mexican working the soil or herding the cattle or driving the trucks, there will be "Regional Mexican".

Piolín has tried multiple comebacks, and even a stint on XM, and it did not work.

And won’t work on a POWERFM, if something they will loose the few listeners that listen to power. Piolin fits a Regional Mexican format not a Tropical Format.

Excellent point. No fit at all with a Caribbean Basin music format and a guy who came from Jalisco.

KLOL does not play Tropical. It is a reggaetón and rhythmic music format, which is totally different. Like comparing country with r&b.

The two did not grow up together, and are culturally quite different.

Actually, Piolín these days is mostly on Spanish Adult Hits stations like Entravision's La Suavecita, mostly as a midday companion piece to El Genio Lucas in mornings.

Most EV markets will usually have Lucas and/or El Ratón in mornings, Piolín mid-days, and Erazno y la Chokolata in afternoons.

And even if they did, Piolins show won’t be a local show. It will just be a recorded show from earlier in the morning. His show has always been based with a regional Mexican format. So during all the music breaks I doubt the people from power will play Tropical music instead of playing what ever was playing on Piolins show.
