FM Frequency of the Week: 88.5

Lets do the Non Com Band

Carmichael, CA

I get nothing, til the Summer

I get KQED San Francisco via Tropo

Vallejo, CA

KQED San Francisco
I've gotten them by E-skip before!

In Cheyenne, WY:
It's usually a weak KUWY with classical music, although they can be strong enough for RDS at times. On some radios, I have adjacent channel interference from a local on 88.7.

Tropo: Usually it's a stronger KUWY, although I once recieved KGNU from Boulder.

E-skip: I've had quite a few stations on 88.5, but KQED San Francisco stands out to me, as it came in like a local, and had RDS. This happened during the May 21st, 2021 opening.

In the near north Chicago area I sometimes hear WHPK the Univ of Chicago station if there's a bit of tropo. Sometime I also get splatter from WLUW the Loyola Univ station.

East Tennessee: Not much with the K-Love station on 88.3. A faint WSDC, Sneedville TN is about it.

Retro/other: Dayton, OH. WMUB, Oxford, OH, which apparently is a part of WVXU.

Far Northwest Suburbs of Chicago. 88.5 here is WSFI from Antioch, IL. 6.1kw from 19 miles to my northeast. Fair signal.

This must be Catholic radio week. At least around here. Both of our Frequencies of the Week, this week, 88.5 and 930 are Catholic Radio at my location., WKBM and WSFI. Different programming and different ownership (AFIK).

KEOM FM (licensed to Mesquite) classic hits. I hardly ever hear it where I live, I usually have to get past DFW Airport to hear it. Fun fact, this is owned by the Mesquite Independent school district

South Mississippi:
WJFM Baton Rouge, LA (SonLife Radio) is usually a weak signal. Rarely, these will come in:
WBHY Mobile, AL "Power 88", Christian contemporary
WUSM Hattiesburg, MS - Southern Miss Radio, adult album alternative
KEOM Mesquite, TX "Mesquite Schools Radio", classic hits

This has been a good frequency for e-skip:
KTEP El Paso, TX - Your NPR Station for the Southwest
KJLJ Scott City, KS
WGNV Milladore, WI "88.5 The Family" (Christian contemporary)
WYSU Youngstown, OH - NPR
WAMU Washington, DC - NPR
WIAB Mackinaw City, MI - Interlochen Public Radio, classical

South Mississippi...
....WBHY Mobile, AL "Power 88", Christian contemporary....
We're heading to our usual beach spot for next week. Last beach condo building on the Florida side of the Alabama State Line (next door to the (in)famous Floeabma). WBHY blasts in with a local quality signal there on 88.5. No chance foe e-skip or tropo unless they're off Which is something I have yet to experience

Depending on the orientation of my outdoor antenna I can receive the following:

WGBK Glenview, IL
WHSD Hinsdale, IL
WHPK Chicago, IL
