WLS is 38th in 25-54. WGN is 25thIn the news/talk category, we see WBBM/WCFS at #2 and WBEZ at #4. But WGN slipped to #15. And WLS is down to #27. Not good.
Considering that 93.9 is a Soft AC, you would think 100.3 would gain as a Mainstream AC and be at least on par with 93.9.100.3 remains stagnant. I feel like this thing has been through multiple rebrands but it never really breaks through. Must bill well enough and compliment 101.9.
WSHE is strange for an AC. Hearing something like Pitbull’s “Give Me Everything” alongside traditional AC fare is just weird. It’s also rather 90s centric and pretty heavy on 80s, and they don’t play anything new. It’s a strange mix of songs that is almost not AC but not variety hits.Considering that 93.9 is a Soft AC, you would think 100.3 would gain as a Mainstream AC and be at least on par with 93.9.
I cannot say WSHE's playlist is particularly wonky for the AC format.
It’s the entirely to flank for WTMX. They did AC before as I said. If the ratings get too high, take numbers away from WTMX, they adjust it. So in a way, yes it is set up for that purpose.I would think 100.3 could still go mainstream AC and protect WTMX while trying to cut in to WLIT who is soft for an AC. AC and Hot AC co-exist well in a number of markets (Dallas and Los Angeles come to mind immediately) in the same cluster. I guess I understand the flanker part, but I don’t get why 100.3 has always had continual re-brands and odd format changes when they could probably do much better if they did something like mainstream AC, stuck to it, invested in it and could still have a flanker for WTMX (who has moved closer down to WSHE in the books in recent times). It’s like it keeps getting set up for failure.
Unscientific, of course, but I can't remember the last time I heard WLS in anyone's home, office, car, or place of business. Or tuned into it myself for entertainment or information.WLS is 38th in 25-54,,,,
You gotta wonder at what point Cumulus decides the land and electric bill are no longer worth clearing their programming in the top 3 markets.Unscientific, of course, but I can't remember the last time I heard WLS in anyone's home, office, car, or place of business. Nielsen does not publicly release the component data for Single Line Reporting. A client can order a special tabulation, but it is not public data.Am I correct in assuming that most of WBBM AM's audience has moved to 105.9? If so then is WGN the most listened to AM station in Chicago?

I was referring more to the transmitter site and electricity 50kW probably takes - is 890 diplexed with any other station? All three stations share space with other existing company offices that would likely exist regardless of the disposition of the stations.

WWJ is the #1 biller in Detroit. That is hardly "less successful".Cumulus’s 760 WJR up on Detroit enjoys success WLS could only dream of - I’m assuming due to less competition (no WGN and a less successful all news outlet than WBBM with WWJ)…
WJR has been vastly more consistent than either WLS or WGN, both of which have spun the "talent of the day" wheel constantly while they changed PDs only slightly less often.and probably a more receptive market to conservative news/talk
