Should we expect a change at iHR Seattle Rich Moore - a track record of failure.Realizing that 6+ isn't spit, and billings may be a little more even between these two, but in just raw numbers KIRO 710 is just crushing KJR 93.3. Part of it is just having the surging Mariner's on every night or late afternoon I guess, but much more it has to do with personality. Or lack therein. When I listen to the KJR lineup I don't hear a lot that is compelling. Morning show is very generic, Jim Moore is decent but worked better in a 3 person format, Ian is a non-entity, Softy is I suppose the anchor of the station but is tied pretty tightly to UW specifically and not much else, and that's it. Then off to the same Fox Sports you can hear in Yakima or Great Falls every night.
KIRO - with the return of Brock to Salk in the AM, they win that match. Having a woman on mid day who knows her stuff is compelling and Bumpus is growing into the role, and the afternoon show is solid. Sports radio is personality radio. KIRO is just more compelling, which is too bad as KJR invented the format in this part of the country.; they just seem to have lost their way. They could do themselves a world of good by getting Gas Man back in the saddle, but that ship has long sailed. Even overnights are more solid with ESPN.
How so? He's been there a long time, and KJR has been profitable. Are you doing the 6+ ratings thing again? Nobody would be fool enough to make a programming or management change based on useless 6+ numbers. Certainly not professionals.Should we expect a change at iHR Seattle Rich Moore - a track record of failure.
God bless you.Even in the 25-54 male demo KIRO-AM is soundly trouncing KJR-FM, but in sports and spoken word it is more about revenue, less about ratings as this board has discussed.
Seriously? I take back what I just said...Still I-Heart can't be happy with the performance of KJR-FM or KBKS for that matter that remain at the bottom of the ratings pack in demo and 6+ along with KPLZ.
Dude, it's been a few months. Moving back to AM would be a disaster. Get a grip.I've said it before and I'll say it again, it wouldn't surprise me if KJR moves back to 950 in a couple years. I know it's only been six months, but so far, while KJR has held its own, they have not seen any gains from moving to FM.
Dude, it's been a few months.I thought the point of being on FM was to attract more listeners that don't listen to AM? That doesn't seem to have been the case for KJR so far.
And you've also claimed that 6+ ratings matter to a sports station. Guess what?In fact, I think I've made the argument before that not many stations with translators have made significant moves ratings wise.
Ironic. KSWD has its best book in almost a decade finishing second 6+ and they lay off John Fisher, the morning host??
Does that indicate that older listeners who may have tuned into 92.5 have stopped listening (for whatever reason)? It seems to me like CHR is going through a fairly weak period right now.I wonder if anyone knew he was there. They replaced him with "All Music" from 2AM straight through to noon.
This is a station that looks great in 6+, but is outside the Top 10 in all important demos. Informercials coming next.
Meanwhile Movin' takes a big hit in 6+ but is still #1 in 18-34. That tells me 50+ is weighing down the numbers.

70% of the station's AQH is over 50.Depends on what you mean by "older listeners," because Movin' is also #1 18-49, and it's #3 25-54. So it's doing well in all important demos. Just not in 6+, where they're #11. But I think the 50+ folks are weighting down the numbers with KSWD at #2.
Must you argue with everyone on this board? You've pointed out everything in your post how many times already. I have also said in previous threads that 12/26/23 would be the earliest I would expect a flip at 93.3. I am currently arguing that simply moving the existing programming to FM doesn't make a successful station. I can think of several examples of stations having added an FM simulcast only to reverse that decision. One was with an all sports format in Portland, when Alpha moved the Rhythmic format from 96.3 to the 102.9 translator that had been rebroadcasting their sports station, 750 KXTG. That station actually started out on full powered 95.5 by the way. I'm sure there are other examples, but the only one that comes to mind right now is Las Vegas, where CBS began simulcasting KXNT on 100.5 only to flip that station to music a few years ago. Sure these were both simulcasts, but my point is that you can't just move a format to FM expecting it to do better without changing any of the content, and I don't think KJR is doing any better or worse on FM than they were on AM.Dude, it's been a few months. If older listeners are weighing down the numbers, they must not be tuning in to 92.5. That doesn’t surprise me, but I guess this pattern deviates from previous books where 92.5 performed better overall in 6+. My assumption there would be that more older listeners tuned in for previous books.Depends on what you mean by "older listeners," because Movin' is also #1 18-49, and it's #3 25-54. Or there may be fewer under-50s listening to radio overall, so the 50+ skew the 6+ numbers.
70% of the station's AQH is over 50.
On the other hand, KISQ in San Francisco is posting healthy numbers within 25-54, 18-34, and 18-49. And they are barely uptempo.Which must mean that 98% of KSWD's AQH is over 50. Same with KIRO.
I'm starting to think Seattle is similar to San Fransisco in terms of radio usage.
They call this a discussion board. When someone says something totally out of whack, expect a response.Must you argue with everyone on this board?
Okay, so what do you consider a successful station? The amount of revenue it takes-in, or solely based on 6+ numbers? You've pointed out everything in your post how many times already.
