Alt 92.3 to Become WINS Simulcast

Even if the FM audience is zero, and it retains its AM audience, it will be a Top 10 station, and will greatly exceed WNYL.

When KYW added a weak FM simulcast, it moved up slightly in the 6+
Even in one of the more southern markets where news does not do as well, KNX in LA has improved both in 25-54 and 12+ since adding an FM simulcast.

There is no public release of the separate AM and FM numbers. That is only available confidentially in a paid extra report.

This is the date table for the PPM books:

There won't even be anything conclusive about the addition of FM until the November book is released; we just got Week 1 of that book today. So it will be three more weeks just to see the transition.

Those of us with access to the weeklies can see this starting now, but we are not allowed to discuss weeklies even with advertisers.
What are those numbers, then, that Buddy Shula often refers to as "trends" in the Buffalo forum if they're not weeklies?

There are no weeklies in diary markets. In fact, there are no trends any more.

Trends in diary markets were unweighted averages of two months of one book and one of the other in between the four annual books. Now they have 12 full books

What is issued in Buffalo every 4 weeks is a 12 week rolling average that is fully weighted. There is no single month book in diary markets, just 3-month books that cover 12 weeks. PPM markets have 13 "monthly" single month "books" and weekly subscriber only trend reports.

We need deeetailz. LOL. For those of us who don’t listen, etc. Ya gotta spill the gossip.
The long story short is that Howard agreed on the point on Ed Sheeran. They also were mocking how there was a lot of celebration about the death of a music station, and generally poking holes in the way Audacy handled the format change.

Are you able to share audio of Stern talking about it?

No matter how “this” format change was handled, I would believe Stern would have a dog in the hunt after his years there. Was he upset about the actual change or just how lame it was? Maybe he wanted to be included in the goodbyes, but probably would be tough contractually. Although, my guess is he still could get away with whatever he wants.

He had no interest in being part of it, I think he sees it as unfortunate that the station is a shell of what it was, and that alternative rock was sacrificed for an aging format regardless the reason.

WINS is now using the simple legal ID without celebrities. Those of you who listen to WINS on AM or FM (but not online) will hear the following at one minute before the hour.

"WINS, WINS-FM and HD1 New York. Always live on the free Audacy app."

I don't think he cared other than to believe that the station went down the tubes after he left. He also lamented the general decline of music on the radio, rock in particular. He generally reflected on how rock radio used to be cool, but that there is not much interest in it anymore.

What was conveniently omitted is any kind of commentary about America's two youngest generations now being primarily interested in rhythmic music and not rock. There is a decline in rock music "on the radio" because interest in rock has been declining for more than two decades now.

Baby boomer denial. An entire generation convinced not only that its particular iteration of popular music was great, but that it should be imposed on all future generations since anything else can automatically be dismissed as inferior.
