The Simpsons renewed through 2025, will pass 800-episode mark

Fox announced on Thursday that it has renewed the forever-running, record-breaking, oft-quoted animated comedy for two more seasons. The season 34 finale, which is slated to air in May, will serve as the 750th episode, and The Simpsons will pass the jaw-dropping 800-episode milestone with this extension.

I recall reading an article a number of years ago that detailed the insane amounts at least some of the voice actors receive per episode. It's been a weekly series since 1989. That's 34 years...

And it all started in 1987 in the 2nd season of the Tracy Ullman Show in The Simpson Shorts so this is the longest cartoon in any format beating Mickey Mouse and the primetime series The Flintstones and all their spin-offs plus Scooby-Doo and their spin-offs.

It even will beat out The Bugs Bunny &Tweety Show and all their rebranding from primetime fo Saturday morning from 1960-2000 with 674 episodes.

How Much Do The Voice Actors On 'The Simpsons' Make?

After demanding a whopping $500,000 per episode, an agreement was reached that saw the performers make as much as $440,000 episode, per The Hollywood Reporter. This was a far cry from what they were able to get a decade prior with $50,000, and it showed that the network was still making bank on the property.

In recent years, however, things have not been as financially feasible for the studio, and as far back as 2011, they determined that to keep the show going, they would need the cast to take a decrease in salary. While this was not ideal, it was a better solution than losing out on the job completely. So, the cast was willing to lighten their pockets and only make around $300,000 per episode. Not ideal, but it kept the show running, effectively making them tons of cash regardless.

I would think that in the Spring of 2025, we may well see the 825th episode of "The Simpsons" (assuming that there are 25 or 26 episodes produced in each of the next three seasons).

Although "The Simpsons" wasn't the Fox broadcast network's first program, it can be argued that the show put the network "on the map".

how many cartoon characters age?
Never lol Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles lasted ten seasons 1987-1996 and never aged always staying teenagers.

The only exception was Pebbles and Bam-Bam when The Flintstones was cancelled they made a spin-off where Pebbles and Bam-Bam were teenagers. But when that was cancelled then it's like it never happened and all the episodes after that and the Christmas specials they were kids again.

I've seen a version of The Archies where the characters were younger than the version that spawned "Sugar Sugar", plus live-action versions under different names with them being adults.

Woah I never thought about this one about The Simpsons beating out Mickey Mouse in any criteria given that Mickey Mouse is about to turn 100 years old in 2028.
