The Simpsons renewed through 2025, will pass 800-episode mark

And it all started in 1987 in the 2nd season of the Tracy Ullman Show in The Simpson Shorts so this is the longest cartoon in any format beating Mickey Mouse and the primetime series The Flintstones and all their spin-offs plus Scooby-Doo and their spin-offs.

It even will beat out The Bugs Bunny &Tweety Show and all their rebranding from primetime fo Saturday morning from 1960-2000 with 674 episodes.
It's amazing that "The Simpsons" started out as a segment on Tracy Ullman Show on Fox and became more popular than the original show once it became a Spin off. It's like other shows I hear about where the Spinoff became more successful than the original show that it was a part of.

A few ones I was aware of where the Spinoff became more successful than the original show are

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition has more episodes than the one related to Plastic surgery.

Miller Boyett Productions had a similar situation in the 1980's-1990's where the Original show Perfect Strangers was the original reference show however when the same directors made spinoffs like Step-by-step, Full House and Family Matters. Those shows went on to have greater success than the original show its based out of.

Norman Lear had similar situation where the Jeffersons was a spinoff of All in the Family. Only difference here is that The Simpsons are more successful that Tracy Ullmans show by decades compared to the others where the spinoff has more episodes that lasted at least 1-2 seasons more than the parent show.

I would think NCIS and it’s own spin-offs would be the most prominent example of being more popular than the show it was spun off from, in this case, JAG.
