All Access reported this morning that Scott Slade is stepping away from Atlanta's Morning News on WSB after 32 years. The press release said that after some time off to recharge, he will be creating something new for WSB that "reflects his passion for listeners and the community."
Since I moved to Atlanta in 1994, my clock radio has gone off to WSB every morning. As a DXer growing up in Baltimore, I used to hear WSB at night all the time. Scott Slade has been my favorite personality over my years here. He has the perfect voice and delivery for that show, which I am told was created in response to the Gulf War in 1990. Former WSB GM (and later Cox Radio President) Bob Neal deserves credit for envisioning how good Slade would be hosting that show.
