Thanks for the insight, Michael.
Back then, the Examiner wrote way more about local TV/Radio than the Chronicle did.
By the way, it really should be noted that Bill was forgiven quickly---he had a three-hour airshift two and a half years later during KFRC's 20th Anniversary (as a Top 40) celebration (Valentine's weekend, 1986) and he did morning drive at KMEL in the early 90s.
Also Bill Lee went on to be a big name in New York on WCBS-FM.

I don't think Bill's ever been forgotten in any of the markets (Hartford, San Francisco, Fargo, Denver, Minneapolis) he worked before New York.Also Bill Lee went on to be a big name in New York on WCBS-FM.
