They are taking 1440 into "retirement" on January 8th. Programming will remain on FM at 106.7 and 99.3 (Grants Pass) and will also move to KYVL-106.3 on that date. I assume, going dark.
And more DX. I'd love to hear WCBS NYC once in WA...just once, hear the sounds of "WCBS news time" and traffic on the 8s. Too many stations in the way on 880, even KRVN.
I assume 1440 will be the battle of Alberta and The Dalles, maybe a bit of KVON Napa. Topeka KS would be nice, as would be the 'lamptimer' KAZG Scottsdale.
Sad for old timers. When I got interested in radio as a career (I know, today that is almost an oxymoron) I had been a medium wave DXer located in NE Ohio. KMED was the Monday morning* bellwether station that indicated an opening to the Pacific Northwest. They are taking 1440 into "retirement" on January 8th. I'm sorry, I made a mistake. You're correct, it's the KMED-FM.KYVL 1440 notified the FCC they were going HD?
KAZG would be a good catch, indeed. With 52 watts at night, I barely hear them in Mesa, about 20 miles away.I assume 1440 will be the battle of Alberta and The Dalles, maybe a bit of KVON Napa. Topeka KS would be nice, as would be the 'lamptimer' KAZG Scottsdale.
And in a plot twist...
FCC reports KCMX-880 is defunct. Was news/talk. The station turned in the license on March 13th, and had been on the air since 1962.
