103.1 WRNR SOLD!!!

Looking at signal maps, it could be used to expand Bright FM to the east. I was thinking that the HD2 format of CHR/Hip Hop might pop up on 103.1fm. I see no mention of this format on the BRIGHT FM website or the stream but finally found the audio stream on tune in. I do not know how well 103.1 actually reaches into Baltimore .

Eye on Annapolis reports that the WRNR format could land on WSMD 98.3. This is obvious wishful thinking on the reporter's part. WSMD is a 3kw Class A whose signal struggles to make it to Annapolis.

There's no mention of what will happen to daytimer WYRE 810 kHz. It's owned essentially by the same group, although the AM is more of a hobby project.

They dont own it, they just program it.. before them, Bill Parris programmed it

This is horrible news for me, a longtime lover of WRNR and the AAA format. WRNR has been a staple for me in the Balt area but I understand they faced a longtime uphill battle to keep it afloat. Just a shame really. No one, and I mean no one, wants more christian music on air, not cause of the religion itself, but the music is just plain unlistenable. As Hank Hill once said "you're not making christianity better, you're making rock music worse!"

As of February 11, 2023, WYRE-AM began relaying the WRNR online stream. The broadcast/webcast plays a top of the hour legal ID that says, "The Voice of the Bay, WYRE, Annapolis and WRNR Online".

I’m curious about this photo though, which I took from the website last Thursday

Both stations utilize the same website provider... Said provider likely was porting data from shared database that had wrong album art for the song that was playing. Considering the recently played does not show up at the top of the page normally, that helps go further in showing that it was only a temporary data glitch.

I was browsing the AM dial this afternoon and stumbled upon WYRE with the WRNR ID and, I suppose, format. (I'm not sure I've ever listened to RNR, but YRE was playing oldies not long ago.)

WRNR's Bob Waugh announces he's joining Paragon Consulting:

WRNR back to FM? Albeit on a 13 watts translator.

Cortana Media applies to acquire 99.9 W260BM Annapolis MD from Hope Christian Church of Marlton for $75,000. Cortana is jointly owned by former AAA 103.1 WRNR-FM owner ‘Steve Kingston’ Kushner, former Midlands Media Columbia SC owner Kirk Litton, and VirtualJock owner Jason Kidd.

Here's your upgrade recommendation: After the translator mod freeze closes move 99.9 to the WYRE tower, upgrade it to 250 watts on 98.3. The station to the south (WSMD) is locked in at 3kw ERP due to legacy shortspacing. While WSMD has complained in the past about proposed 98.3 upgrades near Baltimore the new 45dBu rule pretty much ends that argument..Besides, WSMD hss lame programming other than SoMD news imserts...

Private message to Somar: See what you get for killing off AM 1560 in La Plata!!

Once the pieces are in place the new WYRE/W260BM should serve the greater Annapolis area since the WNAV air product no longer has an interest in doing so.

Cortana will officially have WYRE, no surprise.

Richard Dent will transfer 810 WYRE Annapolis MD to ‘Steve Kingston’ Kushner’s Cortona Media for the assumption of liabilities. Kingston has been operating WYRE via LMA for the past several years with the station picking up the AAA “WRNR” IP when his Empire Broadcasting System closed on its sale of 103.1 WRNR-FM Grasonville MD last February. Cortona is in the process of purchasing 99.9 W260BM Annapolis from Hope Christian Church of Marlton NJ.

You know this how?
not cause of the religion itself, but the music is just plain unlistenable.
In your opinion. Not in the opinion of many who do like that sort of music.
As Hank Hill once said "you're not making christianity better, you're making rock music worse!"
That is a stupid ind insensitive remark, disrespectful of the tastes of others.

You're joking right? Like, you're being sarcastic, I'm sure. Cause no sane person would find a King Of The Hill quote to be stupid and offensive.
The original remark is insensitive, no matter who it came from. In context, as part of a comedy cartoon, it makes a point about personal tastes. Outside of that context, It does not bear repeating.

I'm one of the billions of people in the world who never watched or even have never heard of "King of the Hill".
