So WMC-FM will disappear? Or does Audacy plan to park that call elsewhere?
Audacy still has WMC 790. So, that callsign is parked.

It actually depends on the agreement between Audacy and Gray Television related to the sharing of the call letters.Audacy still has WMC 790. So, that callsign is parked.
I have just uploaded a video of 30 minutes worth of the last few moments, and the first few moments of "the wolf", with timestamps in description to click on so you can see the big moment. That's a lot. I might still enjoy it. Having little interest in Memphis radio specifically, I probably won't get much out of such a long recording. But the big switch is something I'd like to hear.

That is exactly what is going on..I mean at least the brands still alive but it kinda stinks regardless that its reduced to just being a playlist basically. Thanks for the posts of the final minutes. I tried to record it but haven't been able to check it yet, and it probably won't be any better than what was already posted here.
I found out that FM 100 is still running as a channel on Audacy's app, but I'm guessing that it's all automated with no live announcers. Is this on an HD channel as well?
10+ years ago the play was to kill a format and move it to HD2. That hasn't been happening from what I understand because the cost doesn't justify the licensing fees. Thanks for the posts of the final minutes. They did it for Country and Alternative in New York City. Those streams are still running on HD2 and the Audacy app. If it manages to attract some interest/goodwill, there's no reason to assume that they won't do the same for FM100 in Memphis.10+ years ago the play was to kill a format and move it to HD2. Audacy seems to have HD on life support in most markets, Mostly only HD1 and AM simulcasts.
$100k giveaway in that aircheck. Nice. That would buy a billion shares of Audacy stock today.I have just uploaded a video of 30 minutes worth of the last few moments, and the first few moments of "the wolf", with timestamps in description to click on so you can see the big moment.
New York is also New York City, #1 Media market. Memphis is #51.They did it for Country and Alternative in New York City. WLFP got most of the top current stars to record their "Hey y'all"s. Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs, Carrie Underwood, Jelly Roll. I'm impressed. Our local small-market Wolf is still running greetings from Brett Eldredge, The Band Perry (no longer together), and Florida Georgia Line (ditto). Will someone please tell them it's not 2015 anymore? That was good.
I've heard musicians saying hello to listeners on 105.7 Man Up, an iHeart mainstream rock station where I live. I may have heard country musicians do the same thing.
I heard Casey Kasem in there around 1 minute. Wow! I keep struggling to hear him call FM100 out on the classic AT40’s I hear online. I know they’re in there somewhere. I have an air check with Rick Dees from 3/18/2001 where he says “the Weekly Top 40 Countdown on WMC-FM Memphis. FM100!” The first ad was during the transition to Hot AC in the early 90s.
He usually just said "WMC-FM, Memphis, TN," or something similar. He didn't really start using station nicknames until the '80s.I heard Casey Kasem in there around 1 minute. Wow! Wasn’t really anything special, but yeah I recorded it as well. All 94.1 did was cut off in the middle of a song lolDid anyone also record WLFP/94.1 before and after the change, to capture what The Wolf was doing before noon?
In fairness, most of us aged out of FM 100 at some point, anyway. For me, it was about 30 years ago. We listened in a bit on Sunday night in preparation for Monday morning, and I heard exactly TWO songs that I was familiar with, both "older" songs, one by Kelly Clarkson, and the other by Bruno Mars."Did you hear FM 100 is going away?"
"Yeah, isn't that terrible?"
"Yeah, it's a tragedy. When was the last time you listened to it?"
"I don't know. Maybe 15 or 20 years ago."
I could barely get 94.9 and it was still K-LOVE so I take it that 94.1 became became Air 1?Wasn’t really anything special, but yeah I recorded it as well. All 94.1 did was cut off in the middle of a song lol
I was only able to record 94.1s stream, i think it's just simulcasting 99.7 right now.I could barely get 94.9 and it was still K-LOVE so I take it that 94.1 became became Air 1?

So we switched to listening to WRVR on Sunday night after too many unfamiliar songs on FM 100, and we were familiar with roughly every other song on 'RVR. A much more pleasant listening experience for us.
