It is still current based in some cities. That's because the CHR music these days is so bad. What sort of currents are CHR stations today supposed to play anyway? The currents now are horrible.

For a good amount of the 00s, San Francisco lacked a mainstream CHR. Now, they are maintaining two.I guess we no longer have a CHR that isn't gold-based. But since current music is so bad now, why would we want one?
Wow. They’re dropping like flies.I saw Kiss 107 shifted to gold based CHR.
I could see Hubbard flipping 97.3 from country to CHR or maybe Cumulus would consider it for 94.1
I agree so much. I stopped listening to CHR about 6 - 7 years ago. I’m now firmly in the classic hits demo. That's because the CHR music these days is so bad. What sort of currents are CHR stations today supposed to play anyway? The currents now are horrible.
When Kiss first came, I thought “Wow! Cincinnati finally has an energetic sounding Top 40 station like you find in most other major cities.” I always hated Q 102.From Sean Ross on Radio Insight:

Clear Channel’s WKFS (Kiss 107) Cincinnati was only meant to flank heritage CHR WKRQ (Q102) when it switched to Topradioinsight.com
Like K-Rock 94 that lasted a month in 1985.I could see Hubbard flipping 97.3 from country to CHR or maybe Cumulus would consider it for 94.1
I liked Q-102 up until about 1984. I started listening to them a lot less because of their "instant replay" nonsense around 1984-85.When Kiss first came, I thought “Wow! Cincinnati finally has an energetic sounding Top 40 station like you find in most other major cities.” I always hated Q 102.
Are you talking about when Mark Sebastian played “Everybody Wants You” over and over again, or is this something else?I liked Q-102 up until about 1984. I started listening to them a lot less because of their "instant replay" nonsense around 1984-85.
This was when they took a song they played all the time anyway and played it twice back to back. I remember them doing this with "Some Guys Have All The Luck" and maybe "I Feel For You."Are you talking about when Mark Sebastian played “Everybody Wants You” over and over again, or is this something else?
I actually don’t remember this. I must have been listening to WCLU or WLAP.This was when they took a song they played all the time anyway and played it twice back to back. I remember them doing this with "Some Guys Have All The Luck" and maybe "I Feel For You."
