Could a Taylor Swift format work?

Doesn't matter, they still died a horrible death. Got their fairly new Continental transmitter for pennies on the dollar.
KLVS was an unusual situation in that the former owner was stiffed by the new owner and regained the station. The previous format was simulcasting the FM so the former owner had to come up with something while looking for another owner. He bought a bunch of Elvis songs and brought in college interns to board op. This was shortly after another station debuted the Elvis format with great fanfare on the other side of the country. It didn't last long either.

A better question would be how come no station is doing "Taylor Swift Free Weekends"? Where, from Fri-Sun, you won't hear any Taylor Swift music. They did it in the mid 80s with "Phil Collins Free Weekends".

The more dedicated people in her fan base are probably already listening to all-Taylor Swift. On Pandora and Spotify.

As for OTA radio formatting, I don't see an all-Taylor Swift format working long term. Even short term. The true believers already have streaming options, and the rest of the pop fans would see it as a novelty which would get old fast.

It might be something an OTA station would use while stunting, maybe. But all-___________ (name the artist) formats didn't work long term in the past when radio was THE broadcast music medium, and today, with everything being streamed, such formats make less sense.

There's also the risk that Taylor could throw a temper tantrum and pull all her content.
It it's an OTA radio station going all Taylor, how would she do that? An artist can conceivably pull content from a stream, but OTA radio?

Maybe satellite, though. I suppose that would be possible.

On NPR yesterday I learned some of Taylor's fans are so desperate not to miss anything in her concerts that they wear diapers.

One of the "Wait! Wait!" panelists wants to know what Taylor does, and it was suggested maybe it's that 10-minute piano solo. Oh, wait, Taylor was playing in that case, and I don't even want to mention what they were implying.

I don’t know if other stations in markets that have/had Taylor Swift concerts are going to do this, but KCHZ in Kansas City has been playing Taylor Swift mixes all day to prepare for her concerts tonight and tomorrow. The mixes are really good & they’re playing a mix again at midnight tonight and tomorrow (of course they are….)

KMXV is playing a Taylor hour today and KZPT is playing an entire day tomorrow.

I wonder if the stations are getting those mixes from Taylor's people. She has a former radio guy who works for her, and I wouldn't put it past them to put these mixes together and send them to stations as promotional items. Free publicity. Even if the shows are sold out, it keeps people talking.

The one I just heard was by DJ Kirby and as far as I know he does his own mixes. One of the coolest things about Taylor is how into her fans she is, which may have come in part from starting out as a country artist.

I don’t enjoy the one artist channels at all on Sirius XM. Even the ones that aren‘t 100% one artist still play too much of that artist.

I can be in the mood for standards, but when every third song is Sinatra, no thanks. Same with Radio Margaritaville. I may enjoy some tropical/beach sounds but not when most of it is Jimmy Buffett.

I also don’t understand the appeal of the Kenny Chesney and Carrie Underwood channels which offer a mix of genres that often doesn’t flow well. The only channel named after an artist that is ok to me is Willie’s Roadhouse. They probably play about one Willie Nelson an hour and the rest is for the most part classic country.
