Could a Taylor Swift format work?

How many kids are given a PPM.
They are given PPMs in direct proportion to "kids" percentage of the population.... every age group from 7 and up.

David may know more, but I wonder what the percentage is of families with children who actually carry a PPM? What if the kids opt out within a family? Or, what if they agree to opt-in, but just leave the PPM sitting on the dresser because their phone ultimately holds the electronic-life-priority?
If any member of a family or dwelling unit "opts out" the whole family is removed from the panel.

If the PPM device does not show daily unlocking, the home "captain" will be called or texted to request participation. The meter has motion detection built in and it can tell if a meter is used and has normal movements... so you can't tie it to your dog or ceiling fan.

Why give them to families and not random people. Everyone has different listening habits.

Every person in the dwelling unit gets a meter, but all have to carry their meter the required amount of time.

In part, since TV is measured by "family" radio uses the same base as, initially, Arbitron and Nielsen were going to use the PPM for both radio and TV.

Does a family have to live together or just be related to each other.

Back to the original question:

IMHO A TS format would be of use if a station is flipping to CHR or some kind of "extra hot" AC as a stunt for a couple of days. Taylor Swift fans are a very desirable P1 to start with if you going down that path.

It's been going on all year. Here's one example:

Here's another in Philadelphia:

Yes but let’s be realistic—that isn’t a format in any way anyone recognizes it. It’s a glorified stunt. Nothing wrong with that, but if the proposition is about a legitimate single-artist format, the answer is heck no.

I have always wondered about "stunts" during a format flip. If you do a major flip: country to rap, hip hop to AC, etc. where you are going after an different P1 why "waste" several days when you should be trying to build your new audience. If you are fortunate to have outside media "TV, Billboards, cable tv or internet you can start your 10,000 songs in coordination with advertising.

IMHO: any "audience" built by a stunt will leave soon if your programming isn't aimed at them. I believe social media postings are more effect instead of trying to see how weird a mix of songs you can play.

People don't scan the dial looking for a format they like anymore. The goal of the stunt is to get people talking so that when the change happens, they'll come back. A simple format change may not get the kind of word of mouth that a stunt will get. Try to use curiosity to break whatever established listening habit they have.

IMHO If you station doesn't have a social media presence, you are most likely are going to have issues unless you are in some remote area where ratings are not an issue. As you stated folks don't "scan" so how are they going to find your stun? Thanks to COVID, actual physical contact is just now rebounding.

I flipped a station during a noon newscast on Friday, AC's Rapture by Blonide in and Garth Brooks' Friends in Low Places after the weather.

Hopefully the stunt is good enough to get attention. I've posted press coverage of Taylor Swift stunts stations have done in conjunction with her tour. Her fans do a good job of spreading the news. I agree with the social media presence, but once again, you have to create content that attracts attention. People don't scan twitter either. You have to push it in front of them to get attention.

Tbh the radio needs to mix in more of Taylor Swift’s songs since she is famous particularly on formats that have “Taylor” as one of their artists such as AC, Hot AC, and CHR. Her newer songs and select older pop songs would “work” on CHR and more of her older “country” songs would work on Country stations. “Taylor’s” version of the songs could work too. Certain country songs would work on Hot AC and AC as well as her non-rap older/newer pop songs.
