Latino Mix Returns to SA

Nice! I remember The Beat didn't have the HD2 for a long time ever since Party 97.7 stopped. Actually in 2012 I heard their HD2 recycling old Party material, LOL.

At least they aren't just wasting their HD2 signals like Cox LOL.

The top-of-the-hour ID says, Latino Mix KROM 92.9 HD2 and KBBT 98.5 HD2 however, the format is currently heard on 98.5 HD2. As of now, 92.9 HD2 is off but 92.9 HD3 is on with La Panera 87.9.

Let me add that the audio on 98.5 HD2 is really low. This needs to be fixed asap.

Not likely. Some radio people don't seem to listen to their stations. KKYX680 - no highs, KSAH720 - horrible clicking sound at night, KYTY810 - way too much mid range boost, KBIB1000 - 10% modulation, KEDA1540 - over modulation, KWED1580 - no bass, KPPC96.9 - Horrible drop outs. I'm sure there are more, especially it one wants to criticize all the amplitude squashing distortion. On the other hand, there are a lot of really excellent sounding stations on the dial.

KPPC has horrible drop-outs on the air as well? I know they did online for a while but figured it was just that.
The other 96.9 KXTJ sounds fine online.

I was talking about radio.
KPPC was fine on-air at least before 2020.

The problems might have to do with the passing of the engineer last year sadly. They may need a new one.

It's back to stuttering constantly online, but it's more of a skip every 10 or 20 seconds not a drop-out for me. Wonder if the drop-outs on the FM and stream are at the exact same points in the song.

I emailed KPPC and got the following.

"I am not sure where you are located but on Thursday, we had a severe Thunderstorm roll through the area where the transmitter is located. There were some power outages which may have caused the station to go offline. We do have some technical support and as soon as the signal is dropped our station manager restarts the stream remotely. Yes we have some minor burps in the stream and have been researching the cause and thought we had narrowed it down but please be aware that 98.9 is a low power station and we sometimes get some serious bleed over from more powerful stations. The station operates on donations so we are lucky to be broadcasting at all since the theft of some very expensive equipment last year. We are aware of the skipping but appears that it is very brief. Please pass the info along to the people on the discussion group. Thank you for your interest and we are glad that you are listening."

Latino Mix is now on 92.9 HD-2 & 98.5 HD-2. Tejano is back on 107.5 HD-2.

Is Dj Rene C still with Univision? He usually host the Pop-N-Lock on Vibe 107.5 Sunday nights.

I thought we were talking about radio here. KPPC sounds horrible on a radio. There is a huge dropout every few tens of seconds. Tonight there is no audio at all, which is typical for them, just a real strong carrier.

The problems have been fixed as of late.

Unfortunately KPPC-LP is currently a dead carrier, I've heard it dead carrier the other day too.

They might just need an automatic stream playing restarter.

They fixed it.

I would just use a Barix, I've heard those work nicely when set up correctly. A bit expensive, but maybe worth it.

Not expensive and worth it.

In terms of IP audio de;livery on an appliance where you dont need a pc, this is as cheap as it gets for pro broadcast gear.

If you're technically minded you can install stuff on Linux to automatically reconnect and even host your own streaming server...
But many people aren't.

It's the internet provider's fault, slow upload speeds so the carrier goes dead air often and they might not even need a Barix.
They are changing providers and I think I might have gotten on someone's nerves. Oh well my name's 011NERVE after all...
