WJBR sold to VCY???

What is "CC"?

What is a "farms signal"?
CC is Chester County or maybe he is referring to Center City and farms signal is the tower farm in Roxborough. He’s saying he can get the Wilmington signals better here in ChesCo than the Philly signals. Or he can get a Wilmington signal better in Center City than signals in the city but, in the Roxborough section. Downtown Philly is Center City.

I wonder why haven't politicians in Delaware complained about this . Media in Wilmington Delaware is sparce as it is . I would have think people in higher ranks would have complained about this.

On what basis would they complain? The FCC does not regulate formats.

They can whine a lot, but there is nothing much they can do.

Maybe if WJBR had a niche genre that's very culturally associated with minorities like KXTN in San Antonio, then they'd complain.

Didn't save it in the end, though.

There are people in Delaware for whom this new format is appealing. And plenty of people for whom Taylor Swift into Journey into Michael Jackson isn’t.

And it’s a free market for Beasley to sell an asset. We don’t need the government getting into who can and can’t buy an asset barring a very compelling reason. Saving Billy Joel music in Wilmington isn’t that.

You’ll know when everyone else does, Julius.
Well, unless he's banned again. (Why are banned people allowed to just come back whenever they want? I mean, when something is canceled, it's canceled. Like that old TV show Gunsmoke. Y'all remember Gunsmoke, right? Canceled!) When something is canceled, don't let it weasel back. Make Message Board Canceled Again!

Here's a question which I don't think has been answered in this thread, yet.
So the station sail is happening. It's public knolige. DO advertisers still do business like normal?
Like listening to the station, you'd never know its going away, and I'm sure on-air staff is keeping it as normal as can be.

I think you've answered your own question. It's still business as usual on the air, and so listeners are still tuned in, and so Beasley will continue to deliver those ears to advertisers until VCY takes over.

Some handle it differently than others. I remember when Mix 107.3 in DC was sold, they operated business as usual up to the end, with sold out stopsets and everything. It sounds like Mix 99.5 is doing the same. (I've heard promos for an upcoming charity broadcast for a local hospital and more)

Would charity events, sponsored festivals, concerts, etc.all be held as scheduled even if the sale and expected format flip of the station were to occur before the date of the event? I seem to recall a Boston station with an annual concert. That station flipped while the show was still being promoted on air but, IIRC, the show went on. I'm not sure whether station signage was taken down or if the former air staff still showed up to emcee, though.

We're now 7 or 8 weeks from Christmas music on the radio. If the WJBR deal hasn't closed by then, I imagine we'll be wringing one more year of yuletide tunes out of 99.5. What would be interesting is if the deal closes during the Christmas format. Could be some interesting headlines there: "Jesus turns off the Christmas music." LOL

If it means removing Madonna's Santa Baby I'd be all for it. :)

Who knows, VCY could continue the Christmas music until December 26. Take advantage of the increase in listeners who are more likely to be religious rather than piss them off.
