Post your latest DX

KEX 1190 and KEJB 1480 were coming in almost like locals for a bit earlier, and KYNO sounds like junk. Clearly the skywaves are favoring northern signals tonight, although KVMI 1270 seems to be coming in somewhat well. An exception?

c

I had KEJB up here last night but KYNO isnt operating at full night power or pattern either

Checking out 1060 since the closure of CKMX.

KDUS-1060 Tempe AZ heard at 9PM PT with Caldwell & Caldwell law firm commercial, ID, SportsMap at Night.
UNID SS or Asian station buried. Maybe Mexico City.
Also hearing CBS News, followed by Rich Valdes America at Night, a Westwood One talk program. NOT KYW. Could this be relogged KFOY Reno NV? I can't find an affiliate list. My guess is Valdes was offered as a replacement when Jim Bohannon passed away, but it's more of a general conservative-slanted talk program.

CBK-540 over and under XESURF, and CBR-1010 isn't that strong, so it seems that the conditions are still a little "solarized". Not quite to normal, or I'd be hearing these two stations at 20 over S9 at least.

Got a new log tonight, my first in awhile: KSOP 1370 SLC, UT.

Very weak, but readable enough to recognize Johnny Cash's "One Piece At A Time", which matched KSOP's live stream.

Can anyone confirm if they're still on day power?

the switch to night power woudl occur within 15 mins either side of sunrise, reverse to day power at sunset

I've heard them on the 500-watt night power several times. They are often buried under KXTL Butte MT and KAST Astoria OR, but the classic country music is easily readable and identifiable.

You are from northern CA right? How strong Is KZSF there? I have never heard them, but KGEN Tulare makes it often on aurora. Try at sunrise for KWNC Quincy WA, 'Talk 106.7'. I have never heard KWRM down in Corona CA either (a Chinese station).

It amazes me how far a relatively small signal can travel under the right conditions.

That said, it's barely readable and pretty well buried, but the classic country is, as you said, is fairly distinctive and readily identifiable amid the noisy hash.

Yep. I'm in the SFBA, in the east bay, on the Lafayette/Orinda/Moraga side of the tunnel.

It must be a very unfavorable pattern for my QTH, because despite being 5,000 watts, KZSF is nowhere to be found here, at least in the evening. It may come through at other times. I'll have to check.

I'm usually not up that early, but as the winter DX season progresses, I'll have to check it out sometime (sunrise comes later in the morning during winter, which makes it easier for me since I don't have to wake up quite as early :) ).

KZSF is a regular here and Ive had KGEN once.. and verified KGEN was on night power before i posted my log when it happened.

I was able to ID it as KGEN because of the "la ley" liner in this clip at about 7 seconds KGEN-AM 1370 Tulare, CA Tue. Jan 12, 2021 754pm AK Time.mp3

Its the same exactly voice I heard on KGEN-FM from Wyoming

I think you should be able to get it daytimes. I consistently got it in Oakland though it wasn't the strongest signal. But it was there on almost any radio.

Never picked it up at night, though.

It's diplexed on the same array as 1500 KSJX. That's been the case for around 30 years.

KLOK is at the site, triplexed

I know a few engineers who worked on the towers and because of the near by Eggo factor, they say the site smells like waffles :)

Huh, I must be in some kind of coverage hole.

As I think about it, I think I can sort of hear KLOK sometimes, but it's extremely weak and unlistenable.

I can't remember if it's day or night, though. At some point, I'll have to have a listen.

Probably daytime. It's actually one of the stronger South Bay signals at my former Oakland location. Nighttime is an ocean spray, and I don't recall getting much of a signal from it then.

I seem to remember KLOK doing reasonably well whenever I was Napa and Sonoma valleys. That was quit a while ago, however.

In Chicago, around sunset I picked up WCPC in Houston, Mississippi on 940 AM. It's probably not that rare here, but it is only my second Mississippi station. Interesting fact.. it's 31,000 watts during the day and 7 watts at night. This might win the award for the largest ratio between daytime power and nighttime power of any station I've heard ;)

WCPC used to be fairly regular here sunrise/sunset when it was 50kw and 940 was less crowded. It still occasionally turns up locally, At our beach location in the Pensacola area, it's still a sunrise/sunset regular. Routinely blowing out New Orleans' WYLD.

WCPC is tough here in Houston. XEQ is a powerhouse here and WYLD is usually dominant in their null. I've heard WINZ a few times and a couple others from west of here. I have yet to get a firm ID from WCPC.

WCPC is really strong in the other Houston. I've driven through the place. Well, actually around it ...on the Natchez Trace Parkway. :)

Seriously XEQ can be something of a pest in and around New Orleans. There are holes in the WYLD night signal. XEQ is usually right there to fill them.
