W267DA Centreville

W267DA in Centreville which rebroadcasts WBIB-AM has been issued a new construction permit. Not sure if this was applied before the sale of WBIB/W267DA or done so by the pending owners. I'm still scratching my head on this one. The new facilities call for the W267DA transmitter to be moved NE near West Blocton. As a result, neither Centreville or Brent will be in the 60 dBu contour if this is built out (not that it would be required to do so with the translator being licensed to Centreville)...just the listeners in Centreville/Brent would no longer being able to receive the translator as they do now. W267DA currently operates non-directionally, but the permit has the translator operating directionally, presumably to protect WQEM (101.5) in Columbiana which operates on the adjacent frequency.

So any ideas what the game plan is behind the move? I can't see how they could move the transmittter even farther east (if that's what they're planning on doing) bc WQEM puts a 60 dBu signal all the way to Montevallo.

It was applied for under the previous owner, DeLoach....(the seller), Chris johnson is the engineer on file.

Translators dont have a city of license coverage requirement

are we peons qualified to talk about this ?:)

Might not ever be built out since that was applied for by the seller.
But as a lowly, so-called "internet streamer", I might not be permitted to discuss matters concerning "real radio"... ;)

It was applied for AFTER the sale was filed.

so my guess it was coordination between the seller and the buyer, and maybe the buyer wanted it but since he didnt have control of the station yet, he and the seller agreed upon something

but, despite 20 years in small market radio with a modicum of understanding of tech things, im not a qualified enough peon to make guesstimations on this

You're all a bunch of amateur radio nerds who don't know what they're talking about!

Just like me.

My question is, if it is being moved, where is it going? Heading north there ain't much worth serving for a pretty long ways.

This story gets more fascinating as it unfolds, lol. Yeah, I know of that Littleton name, not a Michelle Littleton but let's just say...I will stop right there, as I might incur the wrath of those who own the "real radio stations" out there... ;)
