AC In Wilmington

One way to find out i suppose. WJBR is still on as of right now. I thought for sure Closing Time was the end of it. Theyre teasing us now.

How well is 1510/96.9 doing bumping WXCY's bottom line? Forever could break simulcast and give the signals the "Happy" AC treatment.

Well, that thought is out the window.

I'd probably say keep an eye on 92.9. Considering how far south the JBR signal went into Delaware, it might be an opportunity for iHeart to throw on some fresh paint. The signal alone would not be much to get into office buildings around Wilmington proper, but it might help Kent County listeners a bit... unless they swap 92.9 and 94.7, but I also wouldn't bet on that if WDSD's numbers are solid.

I don't think either of those iHeart Dover signals will make a play at Wilmington. At most hot AC 92.9 becomes more AC for the audience in the northern reach of that signal. But that's more of a format tweak than a format change. Tom FM has lasted this long for a reason.

iHeart had swapped WDSD and WRDX many years ago. Back in 2007 I believe, they moved (What was then "The River" from the bigger 94.7 signal to 92.9 and bumped WDSD from the smaller 92.9 to the bigger 94.7. (This was after already moving WDSD from 94.7 originally to 92.9 back in the 90s).

Considering how hot Country is right now as a format, I doubt iHeart would want to put the format on the smaller signal anytime soon.

As recent as Spring 22, WDSD beat WXCY in the Wilmington ratings. It's not always, but they've done it. Both stations rimshot Wilmington proper, but put in enough signal into New Castle County to be audible in at least the car.
