KZFO KFLC Now Run By LMN

Got confirmation that as of last week the new PD for all LMN stations is Fernando Perez. I think David would agree that Fernando is very capable to handle these stations and has a solid background. I worked with Fernando for many years and can say he is all about data and research so it will be interesting to see how this plays out in Markets where LMN has a FM signal.

Second time around for Fernando programming that frequency. He was Radio One's PD during their Spanish language period, but was hampered by a real culture clash in the building. He's one of my favorite people in radio.

i think you are confused David we are talking about LMN not RADIO ONE OR SBS. He has not programmed that frequency since we are not talking about 92.1 Houston

Wonder if LMN might have something like this in mind for KFZO: New Beats Coming For Latino Mix Las Vegas - RadioInsight

Yes, the 99.1 signal is a rimshot, and its south Dallas County coverage was damaged when the KBEC translator went on the air. But might be worth keeping an ear on this.
I don't really see a huge reason to change. KFZO probably would've announced it around the same time as KRGT if they were planning to flip to Latino Beats. I still personally think they're gonna simulcast KFLC when the LMN network debuts.

Fernando is apparently just a "Programming Consultant" right now. At least according to his LinkedIn.

While researching if other LMN stations were promoting anything yesterday, I did at least notice that KFZO is the only LMN station that Univision has already wiped its existence from its web platform.

As of today, Radio Mambí, WRTO, KFLC and KBTQ have been wiped clean from Univision's website.

Yet Fernando will be SBS's PD in Houston in a few months, which would seem to preclude the LMN deal.

LMN when purchasing the stations had no company when it came to personnel. Other than the 2 managing partners. I thought they would flip it to some talk format like some others thought but as of this moment are still carrying TU programming. The top leaders have no experience in radio so some decisions or thought processes may not make sense. It was an overpriced group of stations that will now not include the NY frequency from what my sources tell me.

As we've pointed out, the top leaders at iHeart and Audacy have lots of radio experience. How has that helped them?

The transfer of WADO was contingent on an environmental study at the transmitter site. Nothing further there.

Thread bump: KFZO has been transferred to a new holding company with the same ownership as LMN. Supposedly has to do with the Soros investment in both LMN and the restructured Audacy. Also being discussed on the Nevada board, as the KFZO transfer also included KLSQ in Las Vegas and WQBA in Miami.

Trying to figure out the purpose of this, as the holding company doesn’t seem to eliminate any cap issues, unless a further sale is a possibility. The attachments to the application also state that the three stations might be taken silent.

Follow up: It was clarified on the Nevada board that the holding company would greatly simplify any spinoff of the three stations, should market cap issues come into play once Audacy exits Chapter 11 (yes the Soros investment in both LMN and the restructured Audacy.)

Wonder who KFZO would go to? Really not suitable for EMF and K-Love.

BTW KFLC is not affected by this.

Maybe someone like BBN? Or maybe KHCB would like to expand northward (unlikely)?

So rumor is .. That LMN is about ready to make some adjustments and changes.
soon they will announce news formats on the AM and will start to incorporate ''el genio lucas'' in some of the markets where they have FM'S they company that will provide the news is the company that handles the distribution for said morning show.

FINALLY! CHANGES! OH MY GOD! I can't wait for the day they introduce their own websites for their stations and don't have to depend completely on Uforia, iHeart and others to be their carriers.

And Entravision will be providing News programming for LMN? Interesting.
