Friday a big day…..

I remember listening to BJ on the Buzz when Robin & Maynard were there. His shtick got old quick (to me). Can’t say I ever listened to him on KISW but I guess I’m in the minority.

Probably not. I assume if he wanted to switch, it wouldn’t be announced as a retirement.
Nowhere I looked says that BJ is retiring. Lance's article states that he is "departing", other sources say he is "exiting".

While even I am critical of the idea of him going to (effectively) their cross-town rival after decades at KISW, the timing of all this is interesting.

I second that! I expect a boost in listenership after Danny retires on Friday.

BJ and his worn schtick sux to high heaven.
Please, try to be understanding of the tastes and preferences of others. Many people like him while you have simply been offending and offensive with no reasoned statement of why.

All your posts are negative. You have not contributed anything in the way of reasoning or analysis. If you want to "shoot things" buy a video game.

This is wild to me. Probably shouldn’t be. Friends, two highly respected and rated morning show hosts retired/were shown the door today. This thread and another have gotten, like, 25 comments this week?
Meantime, the removal of a defunct high school radio station AM tower gets more attention? A song choice on a low-rated station gets more? Dang. Been visiting here for, I think, 15+ years. Don’t know if I have anything in common with you folks.
David Eduardo, you’re right about that guy’s negative comments, but it doesn’t seem like we have much to work with here. Just wild.
Good night and good luck.

Remember, one of the goals of this site is to allow non-radio people, called "listeners" in the vernacular, to chat with radio pros and get an understanding of the business and professional aspects of the "biz".

Occasionally, we get people who don't respect the professional radio people and the work they do in these very rapidly changing times. They insult us because we don't play their personal playlist and don't understand how hard doing one-for-many radio is today with one-on-one streams available.

So we try to explain, and often get interesting input from the more open minded listeners. It's the nothing but insult tiny group that pisses us... royally... off! 😵‍💫

I’m really not sure why anybody would critique BJ Shea. The morning show on KISW was always fantastic if you ask me. BJ and Miggs has mastered a completely conversational morning show, and always found a way to make the program interesting. While I initially thought this was a retirement, I hope we see him return, because he’s truly a great radio personality and someone I always looked up to.

The people who criticize have likely never done a morning show before, and couldn’t come anywhere close to being as good if they tried. There are plenty of morning shows out there that do indeed ride the same tired segments into the ground. The morning show on KISW isn’t one of them.

The speculation about Shea ending up on KZOK may not be all that far off. If I were iHeart, I would go for him, but it sounds like that hasn't happened yet. That would do quite well for KZOK though.

I've commented prior that we all recognize that a great number of participants here would never be confused for brain surgeons. I agree it's strange that local or industry-impactful topics are ignored, and bottom-feeding topics like derelict AM's, LPFM's, Christmas music launches, and pirate stations get the most attention. It's like a view into a strange universe outside of the real one.

I'm actually surprised that the Christmas music this year hasn't gotten any discussion on this board. Usually, there's a post when the first station goes, but I actually had to check a couple days after KRWM usually goes to make sure they were playing Christmas music.
