WBEN gets a brand manager

A brand manager.

How fancy.
I don't think there's anything intrinsically wrong with the use of that job title these days. The job is bigger than "PD" once encompassed, because you're overseeing more than just one linear channel of radio programming. You're also overseeing related podcasts and digital content - literally managing an entire brand.

Now, is Audacy paying brand managers accordingly for all that work? That, of course, is another story...

Wasn't she fired from WBEN during the coverage of the Tops mass shooting for creating a "toxic work environment?"

The above link doesn't mention that. It says she is transitioning from TV News Director to this gig. Sort of like booking passage on the Titanic after the ship hit the iceberg...

Nothing more specific in the article. It just says HR interviewed current and former staff and the consensus was a "toxic work environment"
Think you meant fired from WIVB. At least she is going to a station that has "Toxic On Air Content"...

It'll be interesting to see how she hits it off with his majesty, Bauerle.
Popcorn?

But seriously, nobody tunes in the radio station to hear the Brand Manager, Sales Manager or General Manager. To the extent that Bauerle generates ratings (such as they are) and ratings generate revenue, and that he's been slingin' his shizz on WBEN for so many years, Bauerle wins ... unless he does or says something so over the top or under the bottom that he gives management the opportunity to gas him. WBEN is on a downward slope as of the latest trends. It seems that when the dam breaks for news-talk stations, the wall of water creates serious erosion, often leaving stations that once had double digit shares Persons 12+ left to hold mid-to-low single digits. The dam never gets rebuilt as strong as it once was. Age takes a toll on everything, especially talk-radio. It would be no surprise to see WBEN settle in the 4-6 share range, with music-oriented stations like WECK taking a healthy bite out of WBEN's upper demographic dominance.

The audience is dwindling because they are literally dying off. There are no new listeners to replace them. The ratings slide is no surprise. WBEN may still be generating decent revenue, but it's a spit in the ocean compared to Audacy's debt crisis...
