Loud Media aquires WGAP/WKVL

With the WSMM call letters, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s “Smoky Mountain” something or other. Maybe another classic country or some kind of tourist based info format?
Or could be “Smooth” & maybe soft AC? Or even smooth jazz, with Loud, who knows?
It will only cover South and East Knoxville. Maybe downtown according to the 93.7 signal map. Also, interesting to note, the jump971.com domain was renewed over the summer. I believe Lit was on a 2 year LMA. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Update. They must've been a testing phase yesterday. They are currently nowhere to be found. I tried to attach a photo of yesterday's RDS display, but the file is too large.

Thanks for the updates. I'm out of town this week so I haven't been able to hear it. I had been hoping Loud would be putting the all Christmas format on somewhere this year since no one else ever wants to do it. Last year they did it on Lake FM.

I finally got a chance to listen to 93.7. The signal is pretty bad in my stomping grounds of West Knoxville to Maryville. I wouldn’t consider it “listenable” as the signal dropouts would be annoying to experience on a regular basis. Based on the signal map, I assume it sounds great in south and central Knoxville.

Musically the Christmas music is very heavy on country, which is just as it was previously on Santa 104.9. So they are probably using the same playlist.

I agree. Most of Maryville, I wouldn't consider it listenable. I've driven thru parts of town where it's completely gone. Looking at the signal maps, It would pair really well with KVL's signal as a similcast. I really don't have any format predictions at this point though.
