Cleveland TV Revolving Door

Andre Bernier retiring on May 22nd. His 65th birthday. Can't believe it! Thought he'd pull a Dick Goddard!

Meteorologist Andy Chilian is coming to WOIO for weekend morning duties. He's from WSAZ (Huntington, WV.)

Some more shuffling at WEWS:

Tessa Dittiro, who just came aboard last year as a reporter is now the new weekend AM anchor, taking over for Damon Maolney, who is now on weekdays.

Also Michelle Jarboe has been signed as a new reporter. This is actually her first TV gig, as her background had been in print (Plain Dealer, Crain's)

With all the comings and goings recently, let's reset who is manning the anchor chairs over at TV 5:

Weekdays
_____________

AM and noon - Mike Brookbank and Tiffany Tarpley
4p - Katie Ussin
5p - Ussin and Damon Maloney
6p and 11 p - Rob Powers

Weekends
_______________

AM - Tessa Dittiro
PM - Tracy Carloss
Tessa Dittiro spent some time at WTRF-TV in Wheeling, West Virginia-not sure if it was her first job in TV. We saw one of her segments during a recent vacation in Ohio’s Amish Country. She is an excellent reporter and anchor.

She also worked at a station in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

She's an NEO native, who cut her teeth in small markets like Wheeling and Grand Rapids, and eventually came home to work in a bigger market

I'm sure he'll get the prerequisite farewell tour with all the bells and whistles.

WSAZ is a Gray TV sister station, so this is a hire from within basically, with Chilian moving up the line to a bigger market.

I can't help to think, he knew it was time. Channel eight seems to be going younger (and less talented) especially in the weather department. They just don't have the same chemistry they used to have. And seem to struggle with stories especially when there is a necessary exchange of words going from person to person, in studio or from studio to remote.

At this stage, I can't even recall if Andre ever really had steady shifts lately. Best of luck to him and Sally (Who I also miss on weather these days). They've earned their time off.

Meteorologist Matt Wentz pretty much confirmed he is permanent on WKYC in the mornings now.

Betsy already misses him per her comment the other night. They made a good team in the evening when there was severe weather.

So I guess that mean Hollie is gone.
The Soviet purge has yet to happen on the channel 3 "Meet the Team" website page, so if she hasn't been removed by now, I wouldn't assume she's gone quite yet.

This could be a 60-day "timeout" kind of a deal.

If she's not back by February 5 (the first Monday of the month), THEN maybe we can start to think something is up.

New blood at WEWS ABC 5.

Reporter Maya Lockett has joined the party, coming over from WBTW CBS 13 in Florence, South Carolina

More new blood at WEWS...

Elizabeth VanMetre (no relation and not to be confused with WKYC meteorologist Jessica Van Meter) comes over from KYTV NBC 3 in Springfield, Missouri.

EVM will be doing traffic reports from TV 5's chopper Air Tracker 5 during Good Morning Cleveland, and also do some stuff on the weekends.

It's official Danita Harris is joining WKYC TEGNA GO! April 8th.
Who else saw that coming??

Cleveland.com has more.
I had a feeling Danita was going to WKYC. I couldn't picture her at WJW or even WOIO.

I did assume she would take over as host of Good Company.

Now, she is reunited with Leon Bibb, who she worked with at WEWS.
