KMVP Drops the Ball Big Time!

With just a few minutes left in the Rose Bowl and the score tied 98.7 dropped the football game for the Suns pregame. WHAT A DUMB MOVE! The Rose Bowl went into OT with UM scoring a TD first. 'Bama came up short on their try with the final score being 27-20. 98.7, you're off my presets forever!

I found a radio backup by WCBN, the UM college station, and those students did a masterful job calling the game!

Did you try 620? The Rose Bowl was airing on both frequencies. On 98.7, local takes precedence, especially the Cards and Suns. I can't think of any exceptions ESPN Radio is considered filler.

True dat. But for the life of my sweat embedded fez, I can't understand why TMISU don't give 6~Twenty the same calls as 98~Seven. KTAR aint been AM for a long time, so just do the obvious.

Nor are they encouraging us to Keep Taking (the) Arizona Repugnant anymore.

Was listening on my phone so, no, AM not available. Was eating dinner and closest AM was several rooms away. The WCBN kids (4 of 'em) made listening very refreshing!

A lot of times, I’ve found that student broadcasters are much more exciting to listen to than the play by play guys who Learfield or others contractually require to not say anything even remotely negative about the team on air.

Believe it or not, The Official TMISU app only covers the 98.7 feed, not 620. In other words, All Suns All The Time right now. Neither is the ESPN app airing the audio feed (at least I couldn't find it). ESPN Radio is available via TuneIn, though. I also have an HD radio, which makes life much easier when listening to 620.

AM HD? I also have an HD radio but it's FM only.
No, I meant that I can listen to 620 on 98.7-HD2. I'm not sure any local Ancient Modulation station is using HD anymore. My HD radio covers both bands, but I never hear HD on AM.

Wait, aren't the Phoenix Suns in Phoenix? Isn't KMVP the flagship for the Phoenix Suns? Do you expect the Suns would be willing to hold the start of the game so 98.7 could finish the Rose Bowl? Which, needless to say, they aren't contractually obligated to carry.

I mean, come on..

What a dumb post, frankly

And before anyone calls me out for an insult, i feel if a poster insults a broadcaster without the full facts or understanding the situation, i can respond in kind.

So, youre expect a game between michigan and washington to continue and the Suns would be joined in progress? A broadcast with 2 non local teams does not trump a local team in any shape form or fashion.

If they joined the Sun in progress, you'd then complain how dare they not start a local team on time.

You also admitted you didnt (and couldnt check) 620.. so youre lacking some facts and objectivity here.

Unless the game in progress, whomever they are, is a one-sided affair with no hope of a different outcome I expect the game in progress to be finished. I thought The Heidi Bowl decided that some years ago.

An unimportant Suns game does not override a national championship contest and because it was being shown in PAC territory it was considered a local game.

Better than 90 plus percent of the time, local will always trump national content

Not at the level of the Rose Bowl!

Absolutely wrong in my opinion. If i were running a commercial station and had to choose between a national game finishing on air and joining a local game in progress.. or cutting off the national game and starting a local one on time... the local would win just about every single darn time.

Im in a different programming world but the train of thought i operate with here is LOCAL ALWAYS TRUMPS NATIOINAL and better than 98% of the time thats true. i dont wanna say 100 percent, but i cant think of or cite a specific time when national won over local, so i dont wanna claim it
