Yeah I’m hearing fútbol on 96.1 with the La Nueva RDS. KCVE went off the air last night, I wonder if that’s related.

I was hearing something similar on 96.1 in the Fairfield Outlet Mall area yesterday (290 @ Grand Parkway) but didn’t listen long enough to figure out who it was.

Those 4 watts sure go far!!

I heard them airing ads including Verizon a couple of times and their TOTH said FÚTBOL DE PRIMERA but didn’t mention any call signs.

Of course, Fútbol de Primera is a network show with the (to me) ever-annoying Andrés Cantor, and it sounds like they did not insert the local ID.

We must have been listening at the same time. I did a scan last night and caught 96.1 in the heights. They were broadcasting a soccer match between Costa Rica and Honduras. The Verizon announcement I heard sounded like it was part of the national soccer broadcast and not something plugged in locally.

Due to my language barrier, it is possible that the Verizon announcement could be kosher. For all we know, it could fall within the the spirit of "non-commercial" announcements. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on that one.

Anything with RDS and the words "la nueva," "la mejor," and "la calle" belongs to Hector Guevara/Centro Cristiano. It is not surprising to find commercials on a nonprofit radio station.

He's a legend and you know it!

(But I do concede that his "GOOOOOOOOOOL"s have gotten more and more out of tune with age).
I agree, I for a fact enjoy hearing him narrate the soccer games more than anyone in Univision. Well El Perro Bermúdez (don’t know his real name) was pretty good too. Haven’t heard him in a while.

I noticed later last night and right now it seems like it’s back to La Nueva

To have the rights to the WORLD CUP (only time la Ranchera 850am) would show up in the ratings with over 1.5 share you have to carry futbol de primera so for now Guevarra is carrying the show hoping when the World Cup comes around he can air it on any of his stations. Estrella Media had it last time. And yes 102.5 Also has a Lp signal that is used as a commercial station (under a different entity )
