O. J. Simpson dead at 76

Oof also in recent years we had to consider how years of concussions on College and NFL gridiron and an indirect link to some NFL stars ended up in worse situations. It calls into question if OJ was never an NFL Star would he face the things he been in the past 3 decades. But I read stuff that OJ had a rough childhood living in San Francisco and everybody around OJ encouraged him to play football as part of being accepted among friends and family at that time.

On the Wednesday Sept.24,1969 episode of "Medical Center" there was a scene in which guest star O.J. lost it and ripped a pay phone off the wall. Art imitating life?
 
I wish I had been able to see more of a documentary about him. The first episode was all that was free but it was quite good. People liked him so much, which makes a certain detail of his life I assume we shouldn't mention hard to believe.
 


Lets say the majority of people will look at this one from the archives when OJ went to court over the lead up to how high concussion rates lead to NFL Stars like OJ Simpson ending up where he went through three decades ago. But then again CTE research was not known back then.

 
I saw Simpson play for the 49ers at Candlestick Park. It was near the end of his NFL career. He became a very likable actor and personality. Obviously, everything changed after the murder of his wife. His Dream Team of Defense lawyers did a masterful job to get him off the hook. Of course, he later went to prison for the robbery case. His life was a bizarre and tragic odyssey.

A lot of talk about possible CTE relating to his activities post NFL. I honestly don't believe OJ had any symptoms of CTE. Whenever you listen to him speak during an interview, he was extremely well spoken, not lacking in cognition, very charismatic. Such a shame that his illustrious career as a football player and actor is overshadowed by events that happened later in life.
 
Despite his past wrongdoings, he is still respected by many.

I was coming out of fourth grade when I first heard of Simpson as he was involved in a police chase in a Ford Bronco. This was when I started watching sports on TV(my family used to have cable TV back then, before it became too unaffordable). The following few months were bombarded with the trial related news until his acquittal. He still struggled to turn his life around until he was arrested for his involvement in an armed robbery at a Las Vegas hotel whose objective is to claim his sports memorabilia and was given a sentence of 33 years in prison until he granted parole in 2017 for good behavior.

So, we always make mistakes in life and try to move on, and OJ is a perfect example. So may his soul rest in peace…

That's a bit harsh. It seems reasonable to assume Simpson committed murder and beat the rap. That's unfortunate for the families, but it shows how the court system works. Justice is not equal for all. Money can buy acquittal, while others who are innocent get shafted.

It's also possible that Simpson suffered brain trauma from playing in the NFL. The human brain isn't designed to be constantly sloshed around inside the skull. That may have lead to his personality change. It's no excuse for murder, but it is a possible explanation...

Not everyone that beats their wife and murders them played football. Not an excuse.

I said it's no excuse. What motivates someone to beat or kill their family members? Are they inherently evil? Could it be mental illness, PTSD, drug abuse, or any number of other things? Simpson had all the trappings of success. Fame, Wealth, and Ego obviously don't guarantee happiness...
