KEGL is stunting

just get right to the music and no stunting 🤬. Everyone in Dallas knows the Eagle is back. I’m shocked they did it after the game. Did they do a mavericks post game show at all today?

I have to disagree with some and say I’m 99.999% certain iHeart is bringing back The Eagle brand, and some form of rock to 97.1. I don’t think they would tease a return like this of an heritage brand and then at 10am flip to urban, regional Mexican, or any other format. Just makes no sense.

The Dallas Mavericks-L.A. Clippers playoff Game 5 on Wed. 5/1/2024 will air on Lone Star 92.5:

To be determined if this is permanent (until the end of this season, at least) or a one-time thing.
i wouldn't surprised if the format flip was due to a combo of poor ratings and Mavs using their out clause on their radio broadcast rights deal. i'm calling it now, they move the Mavs Radio Network to WBAP or KLIF next year.

The mavericks along with any sports franchise in America do not care what’s on their flagship station’s signal. As long as the check clears. the mavs will be on 97.1. There’s no need for the team to change signals.

I wonder if iHeart doesn’t want the game causing potential tune out this early in to a launch? It won’t hurt Lonestar, but it could create a negative perception among some that may be listening to the (assumingly) relaunched station for the first time that want to hear music.

after what years of Eagle listeners went through iHeart owes it to the listeners to go commercial free for a few days

Now 97.1 is airing a podcast on previewing the nfl draft….that already happened. This can’t get any weirder
Yeah, I just noticed that, I was recording a couple hours of the stunting (this time in stereo, unlike the 93.3 flip) and I looked over and I thought they were playing commercials, so I turned up the volume…and I’m like wtf?!? šŸ™ƒ

They just had a ā€œ97.1 The Freakā€ liner into a Ben & Skin QC Kinetix commercial.

did they air the mavericks post game show? when I tuned in, a several minutes after the game, I only heard stunting

I’m not sure. I didn’t catch it that early…

More 97.1 The Freak imaging and back to the iHeart Radio featured sports podcast of the week…I guess we’re not quite done with The Freak yetā€¦šŸ˜‚

I knew this whole thing is a stunt. Maybe the big announcement of the cowboys ā€œlandingā€ on 97.1 at 10am? šŸ˜‚
