I’m wondering if they’ll be keeping the WSHE call letters.

Also wake me up when we have a Mainstream AC station.

I'm glad the clunky "SHE loves the 90s and 2000s" branding is gone.

This move should've happened much sooner.

If the ratings remain in the mud, Hubbard ought to consider a return to a Mainstream AC format. Frankly, that would've been a better move than a reboot of the existing 90s and 00s format.

All that WSHE call letter and slogan stuff began when Gene and Jackie Milner partnered with sportscaster Van Patrick and bought WSRF and WSRF-FM Fort Lauderdale back in the late 1960s. Jackie was put in charge of WSRF-FM, which as a result became the original WSHE, with all the "SHE..." slogans. It may have worked back then, but the slogans have apprently passed their usefulness. Jackie, the original "SHE" it referred to, passed away two years ago in Chicago at the age of 94.

Honestly, ratings might stay the same. It’s pretty much the same music except they removed the 80’s.

I’m just hoping in about one or two years, they do go back to a Mainstream AC station.

What I wonder is if 100.3 were to magically way out-perform (highly unlikely) 101.9, would Hubbard finally allow that to happen- and make WTMX the flanker? From what I see of the playlist, the only change I've noticed is the removal of some 80's titles/remixes. The sweeper I heard around 7pm didn't sound much different from the "She" sweepers. I'm of the opinion that no one will care, and the numbers will remain roughly the same. There's already a not very impressive split for roughly the same demos between B96 and 104.3 Jams, and just not enough people of that age listening to FM to care. I'm still a little confused by (what I feel to be) the cannibalization of B96 with the launch of 104.3 Jams.

Huh. From what everyone is describing, sounds to me like it should be called Throwup 100.3. "Regurgitating all the hits you've heard before!"
We have like so many Rhythmic stations. We got 92.3, 102.7, 104.3, 106.3, and 107.5. I don’t understand why we need this many but I feel like they should go against WLIT.

About what I figured would happen this year with 100.3. If it starts to do too badly, or too well, Hubbard always rebrands and/or tweaks the music. Unlikely to run many listeners off, unlikely to attract many new ones.

I agree that if it did well, it’d be interesting to see how well it would do if Hubbard would let it.

Wow so original. So you're describing something that you haven't heard and likely aren't the target listener for.

You cannot look at what a station does independently. WSHE is part of a cluster with WTMX and WDRV and exists solely to protect WTMX as the cluster's cash cow.

Pretty much. Under the old branding, they were already playing mostly 90s and 00s hits with an emphasis on rhythmic pop. They might be playing a little more alternative rock product from that era now (anyone out there know for sure?), but it's no more than 25% of the playlist (perhaps less).

Seems to me the best way to "protect" WTMX would be to face WLIT head-on using 100.3, i.e. a Mainstream AC format.

It's pretty much exactly what they were playing before. There might be a few minor differences but otherwise it's the same thing.

I felt the previous branding wasn't right. The station had various uses of the WSHE and She branding. In 2015 when they put the calls on it was "Chicago's 100.3 WSHE" (It was called Chicago's 100.3 before that) Had a Modern AC format. Tweaked back to AC. Took a few years before they started calling it "She 100.3" and it kept shifting between AC and Adult Hits formats. They started leaning toward 90s and 2000s in 2021 or so. They rebranded to "The New 100.3: She Loves The 90s & 2000s" in 2022. This just clears up old branding from several different formats and gives it it's own.

They tweak the format all the time. Sometimes just a minor adjustment in music every couple years. Like going from Adult Hits to 90s-2000s based Adult Hits. They've gone from Adult Hits to 80s-based Adult Hits (Rewind 100.3) and they have gone from 80s-based Adult Hits to Adult Hits without rebranding at all. Then they rebranded back to Chicago's 100.3 without changing format, then they tweaked it to AC. Same happened with Love FM (Soft AC, Rhythmic Oldies, Rhythmic Oldies with 80s, Adult Hits) and WNND before that (AC, Soft AC, AC, 80s-90s Hot AC)

B96 should go Mainstream AC and take away some of the Lite FM’s audience. Perhaps I was thinking WSHE would’ve taken that but I guess they want to stick with the 90s and 2000s.

There is nothing better than having a Christmas music battle during the holidays ;) I guess we will have to wait.

Audacy, your move.
