MTV Movies and TV Awards is officially off for 2024 but will returning in 2025

How many teenagers do you know sitting in front of the TV watching MTV?

Note this is if you include Paramount+ TV app. I cannot confirm anybody directly watching Paramount + with shows under the MTV label. This data went up to 2022.

Paramount Plus’ latest revenue, user, and viewership metrics. After extensive research, our data analysis team concluded:

  • Paramount Streaming (formerly Viacom CBS streaming services) including Paramount+ (also known as Paramount Plus), have 77 million global subscribers.
  • Middle-aged adults make up the majority of Paramount Plus subscribers.

the average Paramount Plus subscriber is 35 years old.

  • It’s estimated that the Paramount Plus app was downloaded 277,184 times in its first five days on the app store.
  • Of those global downloads, roughly 241,140 came from the United States.

Here is a recent figure if one was specifically wanting to watch a show on MTV. But then again the parent company sees protecting their flagship TV app as the priority because of demographic reasons.

Now MTV is a ghost. Its average prime-time audience of 256,000 people in 2023 was down from 807,000 in 2014, the Nielsen company said. One recent evening MTV aired reruns of “Ridiculousness” from 5 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

The general interest USA Network’s nightly audience tumbled 69% in the same time span, and that was before January’s announcement that viewer-magnet “WWE Raw” was switching to Netflix.

Without favorites like “The Walking Dead” or “Better Call Saul,” AMC’s prime-time viewership sunk 73%. The Disney Channel, birthplace to young stars like Miley Cyrus, Hilary Duff and Selena Gomez, lost an astonishing 93% of its audience, from 1.96 million in 2014 to 132,000 last year.
