Yacht rock weekends on real radio

I for one love love it!!!! :) The radio has been glued to it for the past few weekends!!!!!! I have always hoped someone would put something like this on the radio.

The best thing that station ever did musically was Real Music Weekends. Odd they can't seem to hold onto it for long anymore. Yacht Rock is a limited genre, and this won't be novel after about a month.

I've aged way out of the station's target demographic, but I enjoy the unpredictability of their weekend music mix. Standard formats bore me.

Your mind will be especially blown by the fact there are some stations that image themselves as all-Yacht Rock, like WWMK in northern Michigan and WKEY in Key West, FL. :)

Since returning to the "Real Music Weekends" after dropping the automated fossil rock format failure a few years back, the music mix had switched from what was originally alt rock to a hybrid alt rock / album rock format. Now it's yacht rock? I was wondering why I heard Steely Dan while switching around stations on Saturday. I'll assume this applies to the overnights during the week as well.

It seems they are plug and playing in the national playlist for iHeart's Yacht Rock station with local liners.

I’ve been out of the area for some time now and had no idea they weren’t still playing alternative on the weekends, although I do remember them trying some classic rock at one point. But yacht rock seems like an odd choice. Have they completely given up on younger demos?

KAZM in Sedona, AZ is "full service" with a lot of news and sports, but the music they play leans toward "Yacht Rock."

Also, someone named Adam Ritz self-syndicates a two-hour weekly show to terrestrial stations devoted to YR, and now has a full-time station on the Litt Live streaming platform.

I'd really like to see what WTKS's ratings are like when they are playing music.
Nowadays weekends and overnights are basically a throwaway there. On Saturday and Sunday mornings they are running what seems to be a bunch of brokered crap. They need something to fill in the rest of the day & night.
I know it's not the 90's anymore, but I remember when they took pride in their real music weekends. They ran promotions for it during the week. They had live DJ's in all dayparts and even played music on major Holidays to give their talk show hosts the day off.
As for this current music format, I really don't know what other format could be utilized that's not already being done here in some way shape or form.
They gave up on classic rock because of WMMO, and they gave up on alt rock because of WQMP.
I think they are trying to keep the music somewhat geared toured the desired demographic their going after during the week.
I've listened to Yacht Rock radio on Sirius and while I like some of the music, that format can be very repetitive.
It's like Friday night 90's on WOMX. You'll hear basically the same 73 songs each week (shuffled around of course) during that 7-hour period.

They were promoting Yacht Rock Weekends as a summer thing. Summer is over and so is the Yacht Rock. Guess nobody told them that Orlando summers last a couple more months.

Maybe it's me being a/an Xennial, but I never gotten into this yacht rock music. I prefer the alternative that they replaced it with, & have been known for playing. Also, I have noticed WJRR expanding their playlist to take up the slack of alternative, too. They are a lot better station, I think, as I have tuned in to them longer as of recent.
