WCBS FM is saying This weekends playlist was created by the listeners. I’ve heard one 1 song out of the ordinary so far . Otherwise it’s the same playlist I hear every day.
If that's true, I'd say that CBS-FM ignored any "oh wow" requests it received and cobbled the playlist together from requested songs that were already in the approved-for-airplay library. Probably a good idea seeing as how the holiday "weekend" this year was Thursday-Friday, and many listeners were back at work (and commuting) on Friday. Don't want to be playing stiffs during hours that matter to the advertisers, right? The station could have conceivably presented a more adventurous special on a Saturday-Sunday weekend, when the ratings don't matter as much.WCBS FM is saying This weekends playlist was created by the listeners. The makes sense. But I think differently than most listeners . A good request is a song I haven’t heard in a long time. Their current & Daily playlist list is tired & Old.They need more varietyMaybe it was because the listeners who participated just wanted to hear the tried-and-true hits? Shocking, I know...
There's a song I really want to hear.
The difference between radio & streaming is that radio is a shared experience, while streaming is an individual experience. We used to be a country of shared experiences. But that's rapidly disappearing, because we're all locked up in our own private silos. So yes, shared experiences, when we all felt like we were together....those were the days.
Look inward. The media that used to unite us now divides us. Even something as once-universal as music is now polarizing.
