I'll partially agree with that, but it was pretty apparent with the botched launch of "1560 The Game", in 2007, that David Gow was biting off more than he could chew.
I was editor of a now-long defunct high school sports website back then and I remember Gow coming in to talk to us about some on-air opportunities with 1560. Those eventually happened and I appreciated the chance for our company to contribute to their football coverage. But as a listener, it was tough to follow their station with all the signal issues, the low nighttime power, etc. As a result, my sports radio fix came from Charlie Pallilo and other 790 hosts, plus Astros coverage on 740 and occasionally 610's programming. They were simply much easier to hear, especially at my home on the League City-Friendswood border.
I remember being excited to hear when 1560 planned to put a tower farm out toward Katy with much more power beamed over the city. Alas, I moved back to Ohio before that happened. As I remember, even that was delayed from the original expected launch date.
