Estrella MediaCo Having Different Luna Stations?

It seems to me that Luna 98.3 in Dallas plays more rhythmic music than the local HD2 in New York.
RadioInk is reporting that Luna 107.5 HD2 will be the home of New York Jets football game broadcasts in Spanish. Is American style football popular with Hispanic people?

Luna & La Buena

I heard that New York now has a Spanish A/C on the 107.5-HD2 frequency and I wonder if both Luna 98.3 and Luna 107.5 sound the same or is their playlist much more different? So far I heard a top of the hour and it seems they have the same V/O people.
Top of the hour for Luna 107.5
Top of the hour for Luna 98.3
I mean, it's not like they have to bother with playlist research because it's just an HD2 with no hope of making the book, but an AC in New York should ideally be very different from an AC in Dallas.

People complain that WPAT is not an AC station all the time, but it is what AC sounds like in the Dominican republic. That includes bachata and lighter reggaetón songs. SBS did their research after struggling with the changing sound of AC for years and it paid off.

Not with Spanish dominant ones.

InsideRadio has an article very similar to the one from RadioInk (linked above), with one notable exception. It states that Luna on 107.5 HD2 will carry Spanish language broadcasts of New York Mets baseball games. This makes more sense than offering New York Jets football games in Spanish, as the RadioInk article asserted.
So if InsideRadio is correct, it seems highly likely that starting next year, Mets games in Spanish will no longer be broadcast on WINS 92.3 HD2.

InsideRadio Version

As mentioned, while InsideRadio lists Luna as being a Mets broadcaster, RadioInk and RBR.com
(MediaCo Taps Estrella Team For Twin HD2 Station Launches | Radio & Television Business Report) are saying it will be a NY Jets broadcaster.
(RBR appears to be re-reporting the RadioInk article, however.)

Being as the Mets broadcasts are an Audacy property and the games already appear on an Audacy HD2 (WINS-HD2-92.3),
granted on an incompatible format ("Alt 92.3"), there seems no need to move the Mets
unless Audacy wants to protect the "Alt 92.3" brand ("a sarcastic roar goes up from the crowd!").
Unless there will be a similar deal in place as with Audacy's Mets airing on Audacy's 880 (leased by Good Karma Brands).

The NY Jets, however, have been looking for an outlet to broadcast their Spanish language broadcasts that (years ago) aired on 1050 ESPN Deportes.
With the Jets jettisoning Good Karma from the English language side in favor of iHeart's Q104.3,
maybe there could be an opening to resume the Spanish language broadcasts.

(The MP3 versions of the above stream paths are not worth posting;
the audio quality is very subpar.)

Two things here makes sense to me. It would be preferable to run the Spanish Mets broadcast on a station that has Spanish programming the rest of the day, such as 107.5 Luna HD2. The Alt music on 92.3 HD2 and Spanish language baseball coverage are not a good mix.
And American style football is not very popular with people that speak primarily Spanish. Perhaps that is why no local station has been broadcasting it in that language since 1050 AM ditched their Spanish sports format.

I think that's a pretty dated stereotype.
Not among Spanish dominant Hispanics. They are first generation, and come from nations where American football is not played for the general public ( the NFL games done in Mexico are primarily for upper class Mexicans who went to college in the US… but they do not migrate to the US permanently.).

I heard a spot on Luna 107.5 HD2 indicating they will be broadcasting NY Jets football games in Spanish, starting this Monday.

It’s surprising that if they’re going to broadcast sports, they can’t make a deal to carry soccer matches,

I'm not sure whether broadcasting Liga MX matches on the radio is even a thing in Mexico, and even if it was, you can't guarantee that everybody in New York is an América or Chivas fan. Mexican immigrants have all sorts of different allegiances. And you can forget about MLS, which has tepid support even in its home markets.

Good observation. In each nation of Latin America people support different teams for different cities and regions. Only in the tournaments every few years (four for the World Cup) does everyone in a nation support one team, their country's team. The rest of the time, just like in America, people support their local or alma mater team. So, whether you are from Guatemala or Argentina or Mexico, you follow one team and not all of them.

This does make sense.
But doesn't TUDN broadcast soccer matches in Spanish, locally on WADO AM?

I could see them broadcast América matches since they own the team.

But soccer is especially a bad fit for New York City, where most of the Latinos are baseball fans, and said baseball fans are overwhelmingly represented in the ratings.

Yes, Univisión and TUDN do broadcast the home games of Club América. They also have broadcasting rights to the home games of several other Liga MX teams.

Well, New York City has a significant amount of people who are from Mexico and South America, so soccer does make sense here.
