CBS has finally decided to pull the plug on broadcasting the [Macy*s] Thanksgiving Day Parade. This is another change that I have seen coming for a long time. I'm surprised they didn't stop sooner. It didn't even make any sense for them to broadcast it, as I don't know anyone who actually watched it on CBS. I always watched on the official broadcast partner, NBC. It was the exact same parade, they just weren't allowed to say Macy*s. I understand it wasn't always the exact same parade, but eventually it was, and there was no point in broadcasting it.
However, because CBS isn't broadcasting the Thanksgiving Day Parade, for the first time ever, they're actually going to be broadcasting The Price is Right on Thanksgiving. That show has been on for 53 years now, but it has never been on on Thanksgiving. Actually, the first year that Drew Carey hosted, they had a TPIR marathon from 12:30-3:30pm, but I think it was all repeats. It's gonna be a repeat this year too, but it's gonna feel weird watching The Price is Right on Thanksgiving at all, first-run or repeat.
