Other than by their national ethnicity (Mexican, Cuban, Dominican, etc), do Spanish speaking people have a catch-all descriptor for any Western Hemisphere Spanish-speaking people or nation? Is Latin American used?
"Latino" is the most common, with "Latinoamericano" also widely used.

XEPE from Tecate, Baja California, Mexico booms in throughout most of US California from about 2 PM onwards.

It's not a border blaster per se, since it's only 10k Watts, but it's functionally equivalent once those skywaves wake up.

It's really annoying because it spills over onto 1710, which is the only open frequency I can find that isn't full of noise for my Part 15 experiments.

Another new country last night! The absolute first station I got with my new RCA antenna rotator was ZNS-3, 810 AM, Nassau. All I had ever heard (day or night) on 810 was WGY, which tends to come in strong, but I found a very small null with the rotator which allowed other things to come in. It is very interesting that the most important feature of this new device will not be to get the strongest signal (by pointing right at a certain station), but rather to null out other signals.

Now the ID said "The National Voice of the Bahamas", and 104.5 FM was mentioned, which would seem to point to ZNS-1--as did the programming, pretty lively dnace/club music. Does anyone know if ZNS-3 is no longer carrying its own content (it was "the Light")? This was about 10:20PM last night, so maybe they switch over programming on Sat night?

And to add a cherry on top, as I kept listening, another new station was logged, WHB Kansas City. Looking forward to more live listening now that I can rotate the antenna and get some stronger nulls that I did not know existed.

I tried getting 1540 AM ZNS-1 directly, but WCKY, Cincy, being only 68 miles away, just did not want to be nulled...will keep trying of course.

Good catch.
I also got a first the other night.
Early in the a.m., around 6 a.m. CT, I pulled in 1480-KQAM (formerly KLEO) of Wichita, Kansas.

Only heard it a short time, but heard the calls and other Wichita relateds.
Had never captured that station before here in central Texas near Austin.

KLEO, fyi, was the big Top 40 AM back in the day, until the early 1980s.

I don't remember if I caught this one once before or not, but I caught it last night.

1420 KITI from Centralia, WA. It came in well enough that I could make out something that sounded like the Beatles followed by an ID that mentioned southwest Washington, then Don McLean's American Pie, so I was pretty sure it was an oldies station of some kind, and that it must be somewhere in southwest Washington.

A brief search on the various stations on 1420 confirmed that it was KITI.

KITI is very regular up here on 1420, in fact they are one of only 3 stations i've logged on 1420 from AK. They are in here nightly at some level, sometimes not so good, but often times pretty decent. I've heard KSTN a few scant times and KKEA HI A few times

Heres my best KITI audio:

Here's my best KSTN from Alaska:

KSTN was a sunrise regular in Wyoming. I think im one of the only people to legitimately long haul DX both KSTN and their 105.9 translator (heard it in WY once)

1/29 19:26 CST 1130 KC unknown station weak playing music. Didn't hear very long. This is a fringe station here, so have no idea. Sometimes get WBBR. Very few stations listed on at night, due to clear channel frequency.
1140 KC Unidentified station playing beautiful piano solo. I've heard this station before. Possibly XEMR Apodaco, Nuevo Leon. Good copy, then drifted away.
Sometimes there is a heterodyne (or something) on 1130, making copy impossible, as on other frequencies. Gonna try to get a recording of 1140. When good enough to record!

New FM log last night (1/28)

92.9 - KDBL WA, Toppenish; with mention of 92.9 the Bull app, mixed with KZZU and likely KRXF OR, 8:48PM MT 1/28. NEW #203, 17KW at 251 miles. One of my old locals!

The constant contrails are really helping w/ regional logs. The regulars from Yakima, SE WA, Spokane are dominant, as well as Pocatello and a handful of Twin Falls when the planes are still coming in from the east. As I continue to experiment with normal scatter, I should be able to knock out several more stations.

1/31 20:00 CST 800 KC
It sounds like the ID is at 40 seconds.
Strong in any direction.

Also had a recording of 650 KC east/west good copy, unfortunately the same approximate frequency of my phone's internal clock. Latino station.

About 19 seconds and 41 seconds, mention of transmundial.. this is PJB Bonaire, 440KW

Another new log on Thursday 1/30...

92.9 - KRXF OR, Sunriver; with ID '92/9 FM' and interview segment mentioning the Source Weekly, an entertainment/alternative newspaper in central Oregon. This was heard around 4:55PM MT as a cargo jet flew over Cascade heading for PDX. NEW #204, 100KW at 273 miles.

2/3 22:55 CST 1200 KC while nulling WOAI, with the antenna north I've been hearing what sounds like a weak country station. The only likely station listed is WSML Graham, NC. However they're in northern NC with 1kw, which seems unlikely but I dunno. Many stations on that frequency sign off at night.

2/4 20:00 CST 1200 KC Haven't got an ID yet, but have narrowed down the format. It's definitely religious. Now it appears it's probably WMUZ Taylor, MI. 15kw to 10 towers! Since WOAI is so strong here, it's a tight null to hear this weak station. Also getting hammered from 1190 WOWO, really strong tonight.

This is part of the joy of DXing.
And I'm basically new at this, at recording my catches, though I always enjoyed tuning in AM stations on my car radio at night.

I enjoy tuning around too. I especially enjoy hearing things like R. Encyclopedia all the way from Cuba (I'm in California, so that's ~2,700 miles! Impressive!!)

One of the few positives of the eventual decline of the number of junk AM stations, it'll make DXing much easier (noisy electronics notwithstanding, of course).

When KLAT Houston started signing off at sunset a few months ago I was surprised at how easily I could hear WJXL. They're supposedly directional away from me, out into the Atlantic. KBBW is always there as well, but it does seem they've been weaker lately. KBBW appears to have a null in my direction.
WJXL came in very strong pre-dawn this a.m.
Was hoping it was WINS New York, but that would be asking too much.
