Gene Hackman, 95, and wife Betsy Arakawa, 63,

I’m in your head. You knew exactly what I meant when I said “the other dog(s) wasn’t a vacuum cleaner” . Some dogs Hoover up anything they think could conceivably be food, like pills. Others will staunchly refuse to eat except out of their dish.

This isn’t childish nonsense, this is discussing the news of the death of notables.

Your righteous indignation is rather off

Rest in Peace Mr Hackman

I remember him in the Movie Enemy of the State with Will Smith driving his blue 1986 Chevy El Camino in the film during the car chase and his character's truck blew up after losing the fuel line.

Foul play would rule out murder but not suicide. I think he died naturally. She died by suicide or accidental OD. The dog ate some pills beside her body and died. The other dog wasn’t a vacuum cleaner
I think that's a strong possibility. Being the bodies were found in separate rooms. She found his body, got depressed and took the pills. If they find out Hackman wasn't drugged, that would be my guess. They already said there didn't appear to be a gas leak, but don't know about carbon monoxide since that's harder to detect. Only leaves how did the dog die?

The dog was found in a crate, so it may have starved to death. The police have stated they don't believe a robbery took place and both had been deceased for quite awhile. The scenario you described is possible. That happens to other people who aren't celebrities...

A dog being in their crate can be a different thing than a dog being locked in their crate. We had a dog who would chose to get in their crate and snooze when they really wanted a rest or didn’t feel good, versus sprawled out on the floor for a standard issue snore.

Well I was wrong about carbon monoxide, the authorities have ruled that out. All of the other possible explanations are pretty grim unfortunately.

Where was their family is my question.
They apparently lived a very quiet and private lifestyle. Hackman left Hollywood behind 20 years ago. 9 days isn't that long for people who value privacy. If they weren't active on Social Media, no relatives would have known. It's unfortunate, but some people just keep a low profile. Since she died first, Hackman may not have been aware of what was happening due to his Alzheimer's. It's sad...

He had 3 children from his first marriage. We don’t know what if any relationship they had but I know I’d be checking in with an elderly parent more often then they appeared to be doing.

Yea, but he had a wife the age of his kids. So there may have been some dynamic there that is left unsaid.

And if he was as demented as it sounds, calling him up won’t result in a meaningful conversation, and could be construed as pestering by Ms Arakawa or the Hackman kids

Betsy Arakawa apparently died of Hanta virus, which towards its end cycle can rapidly progress from flu-like to fatal.

In his advanced dementia, Hackman may have wandered about unable to summon help

My wife's father had Alzheimers. I can only imagine how terrifyingly awful that must have been for Hackman to wander
around with no help before dying alone. Contracting something as rare as Hanta virus is an extreme bit of bad luck (although
the last couple of outbreaks have been in New Mexico).
