Wait...I know...they can train Derek to be a weather anchor! OK, back to being serious, it's really odd since Derek has come and gone from 3TV so many times/

Just to be clear, I'm not Derek Staahl. 😉 But I do think he's pretty good as an anchor. He and Nicole make a good team when they're paired together. Surprised he's been used so inconsistently.

Seriously I wonder where Derek will fit in? I like Former's scenario but Whitney and Kylee complement each other well. But so did Kylee and Jaime.

Honest, I'm really not, I promise! Though it's always nice to see a Derek who spells the name correctly. 😂 Anyway, it looks like he's just doing reporting now. Mainly from the newsroom on whatever the big story of the day is. I wonder if that's the long term plan. Vanessa at 4 and 8 seems like a demotion as well and I think she's a solid anchor as well. After GMAZ weekdays are now all female anchors with the exception of Jared.

On his LinkedIn, Michael said he's "interested in finding a new opportunity in PR and Communications" and has "spoken with multiple PR people from around the country".

At the end of the broadcast, he got a 'Thanks, Michael' send off. It was nice.

I didn't watch ABC15 Sunday to see if Amelia Fabiano made any future announcements.
 
AZ Family has new newscast intros that identify the anchors. I've also noticed they're running promos emphasizing who's anchoring when. Also Derek S. actually said he was filling in for Jared last night which is something they haven't really done in years. Maybe the carousel is finally stopping or at least slowing down.

I noticed this, too. I'm so glad they are doing this. Their "random anchor selection" was driving me crazy. I started watching 12 News more often, because I just couldn't take certain pairings.

I saw the 9 p.m. promo identifying Dillingham, Crites, & McLaughlin as a team.

Amelia Fabiano posted on Facebook April 21st was her last day on ABC15. Kudos to ABC15 website admin for removing Fabiano's bio page quickly.
Looks like Jamie Warren will be taking over weekends for now.
 
Looks the new weekend evening anchor with Jason Barry is Karina Rubio. She was at WCIA in Champaign, IL for five years, most recently as a weeknight anchor. Interesting that they went with an outside hire. I thought it would be Sarah. Huge leap in market size too.
